Best place to live (for the Psychotic big game hunter)

312 N. 21st Ave. in Bozeman, Montana.

I could step out onto my front porch and watch the neighbor's place for cougar and buffalo. And I'd be within a few hours striking distance of most any other animal I wanted to hunt in the U.S.

AK, BC or MT. Variety, lengthy seasons and liberal numbers of resident tags.

Spitz, we are lucky to live where we do.. minus the feral game you're referring to..

If a guy had all the time in the world, the amount of cool hunting to be had based out of SW MT would be tough to top.. unless you wanted stuff on the more exotic side.. :D

BC and AK would be great, but they're missing a few key cheap and easy vices of mine...

Oh, you'd be surprised at the range of the cougar.

I will have to think on that....

Yeah but in MD you get 2 species? Turks and whiteys? Not enough.

I'd say MT or WY. Good long seasons and you can both archery and gun. Spring bear as well.

One of those 2 states with enough scratch and time to do a really good AK trip every year would be just about perfect.

Montana no question. Lenght of season, weather, "easy" access to large roadless areas, multiple abundant big game species, water fowl, upland game, varmints, fishing, etc...

I think ID and WY would be a close second though. The only thing missing is easy to draw sheep/moose/goat tags.

MD has sika deer and black bears, both of which are poor odds at best. Maryland is hardly a hunters dream. A big chunk of ground is 1000 acres. 95% of the state is private, more douce bag red necks than you can shake a stick at, etc, etc. Sure there might be a lot of deer, but hunting them out of someones back yard is pretty lame. ;)

Not a recomendation for MD but we also have black bear, Sika and some of the best waterfowl hunting in the country.

BHR, those areas are missing the pronghorn as well as the caliber of elk hunting we have within sight of my house. If I want to, I could shoot 3 bears a spring, hunting great areas - after work for under 1K. I could hunt tremendous mule deer in 2-3 states a year, within a 3-4 hour drive from my house - easy draws or over the counter for great areas. Great elk in 3 states.. easy draws and over the counter. Bozeman is tough to beat for consistantly awesome annual hunting.. for what I like anyway.. nowhere else would be an upgrade for me. There's just not enough time to take advantage of everything this particular area has...
