My buddy in Michigan has three of them , they are in good shape but need to be gone thru . He won't sell anything though , he has a small lot full of old trucks .

Thats sweet but not worth the asking price , IMO . Lots of better deals around .

But thats the problem , it's all original . A good truck would be rebuilt to new standards , put a LS 6.0 with a 6 speed transmission , independent front axle . Lockers front and rear . Technology has made that truck a joke , other than looks .
Personally I'd do like @Addicting did , buy a shell and update everything .

I am rebuilding a 67 Ford on a 76 chassis. I have rebuilt all of the drivetrain and the original 352 engine. It will be my daily driver, and I will try to wear it out again before I die. I have been working on it for about a year and probably have a year left. It will have power steering and power breaks, no cruise or air. I have never been much of a Ford guy, but I think these are a good looking truck. I drove a 1970 Chevy for years with the same basic running gear, so I have a good Idea what to expect. I have had enough of the electronic stuff personally.
I have an all original 1986 3/4 ton Chevrolet 4x4. Even the radio. I can assure you the truck is no joke. mtmuley

Well maybe joke was the wrong word to use , but todays trucks are much improved on , independent front suspension for one thing . My 2016 WT is the nicest all around truck I've owned , IMO , and I've owned a few . No way I'd go back to my Ford Hi Boy , for a daily driver anyway .

You have to have patience and time. New and old electronics don’t mix well.
I’ve got over 15k miles on it now and there are some things that need redone.
The dash cluster needs redone, there are aftermarket solutions to this. The transfer case needs to go to a manual version. Without the neutral signal from the old computer in the dash, the automatic one won’t shift to low. The ABS module has zero support and failed, it needs to be removed.
Might as well switch it to disc brakes on the rear out of a 2009 or so 2500.
If you do these frequently there is a shorter learning curve. But most will be a few years of continuous improvement with the merge of two systems.

I keep seeing ads for a Toyota that is bare bones stripped down. I have to say at the 18k price point I would buy it.

This is the exact truck I want. I had a 17 in a 1500 and loved that truck. I would love a 2500 with the standard bed.

If i wanted an updated truck I'd just buy a new truck. I don't understand the attraction of converting a 40 year old truck to modern stands (IFS especially).
