There's alot of money out there

Imagine the money that would be raised and benefit to SLC if RMEF had not had their bid round-filed. 10,000s of more attendees and deeper pockets of people who hate Peay yet the Peay-sniffers would have still chased those auction tags. No one can screw up a sure thing faster than Utah so not surprised that RMEF got bent over.

Calling a prostitute an escort doesn't change the end result. Sure, RMEF would be an improvement.

But an improvement on who gets to whore out Utah and western wildlife.

It's interesting to see what sells high and what doesn't.

I don't have any interest in hunting Africa but look at how cheap all of the Africa stuff goes. Seven grand for a week-long trip for four people, multiple animals. Meanwhile, high-end mule deer tags are going for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Also noticed the moose/grizzly outfitted hunts are going at about the price they sell for on any other day.

It's a pretty good example of how scarcity of tags warps people's perception of value. There is no tag on this earth, for any animal, that is worth four or five hundred thousand dollars.
Your first sentence explained it perfectly.

Can't have a big shlong contest if no one cares about schlongs(clumsy I know, I had another line, but I'm trying to be high class).

This has ZERO to do with anything other than ego.

AI tags go for over $300,000k because the Ogden airport is 20 min away.

So you leave the camp behind? Then ride back in, load up the camp, and walk back out. Oh wait ... the mule needs to eat too. Gotta make another trip hauling in food for it. So ... let's count em up: walk in with camp on the mule, ride out, walk in with feed on the mule, set up camp and hunt, walk out with sheep on the mule, ride back in to clean up camp, and walk out. A tough job even for Superman! I know something about how this doesn't work. I made do with just two animals most of the time but it wasn't easy. It was NEVER one trip in and one trip out. Not unless I put something on the ground while day hunting from the road. Then the horses went in and out the following day, two quarters on each animal.
What part of pack string in my OP did all you folks not get?

I am planning for my new friend to have multiple $35,000 mules so we only have to make one trip. Sheesh. One mule. You guys are all cheapskates.

There will need to be a minimum of 10 mules. One for my friend. One for me. One for the wrangler. One for the butler. Six for camp, food, beverages, and a Sat. phone so I can continue “snobby tittering” on Hunttalk.

You are absolutely right. I'm not a Utahn, pretty close though, but I am helping out with the Northern Utah RMEF banquet in March and we will have a dozen or more tags to auction off at the banquet, so RMEF is still involved in whoring out Utah's wildlife.

Just think what a Saskatchewan mule deer tag good for anywhere in the province would sell for.

One part of me wants the Sask Ministry of Environment to auction "Province wide tags" to raise funds for conservation.

The other part says: "#*^@#* no, this Province is one of the few places left where residents are put first and our herds properly managed" (forest fringe moose aside).

I can see a Sasky tag going for that much money, if not more, not hard to imagine considering the numbers I'm seeing.

I struggle with it as a member. I sit in the banquets and watch some dude on a phone, compete with another dude on a phone, the clients I'm assuming are sitting home.

We give out over 500 tags for "conservation".

Utah I guess does more conserving than everyone else?

I don't get it, a Wyoming Governor moose tag went for 70k but two fully guided Yukon hunts went for 35k and 42k?!
Part of me wonders if it's the Covid travel stuff... were are trying to head north next week and holy smokes do you have to jump through some hoops...

Also I'd prefer to keep my moose meat and some of the Yukon outfits don't allow that 🤷‍♂️

I think it needs to be pointed out that with sheep conservation, we have real tangible results of those dollars being spent wisely and growing sheep numbers.

I can't say that mule deer numbers have showed vast improvement over the last few decades, but I truly believe that money spent on sheep has been a major success throughout the west and that regular draw hunters have benefited greatly from those funds.

Sounds like your Big Sky sugar daddy will be packing a little black dress for you to wear in camp too.😄

True, but there are alternative ways to hunt moose for much less and still keep the whole thing.

I'm obviously looking at this the wrong way, maybe some rich Wyomingite just wants to hunt moose in his backyard! This is clearly someone who can easily spend 70k, not the same mindset than most of us.

Sounds like that may be changing this week. If you're vaxed no more need to be tested before arrival. Also, the authorities finally drew lots to see who was responsible for getting those antivax trucker nuts out of the way at the border. Leave it to Ontario Conservative premier Ford to grow a pair and do something about it.

Yeah, I'm thinking if I have all the money in the world I probably want the biggest moose for the least amount of effort? Just my guess.

I will be keeping my eyes on the news though not sure anything will change for us at this point... all the appointments for testing going both ways have already been made.
