Hey Greenhorn,...you are doing a GREAT job starting the youngster off with better than average birds.Tough finding Montana Merriams with spurs like that,...they usually don't live that long what with harsh winters,predation and hunters.Given the amount of time you dedicate to hunting you owe to yourself to start plucking,15-20 minutes max.Just do it in the field so you don't have clean up a pile of loose feathers in your garage.Fine job,my man.
