Elk .... Let's see them!!!

This archery bull has a little bit of a story to go with it. He was taken on what I call 2 shot ridge. Tjones and I have hunted this country for decades. On this particular ridge we have taken 2 bull elk, both shot by both of us. Tjones was draining his unit and I decided to call a few more times. It was late in the morning, hot and dry, and we had struck out on any rutting activity. I had called off and on as we hiked back up 2 shot. So I bugled and right below me a loud and excitable bugle answered back, within seconds the bull was moving past me in good range, as he walked by, I drew back and sent one through him. Tjones ( I think with his joey still out) nocked an arrow and got ready. After I shot, I hit the cow call, and the bull acted like a hound dog moving around sniffing the ground. His tracking efforts took him right to Tjones and he sent another arrow through the bull. This is #2 on 2 shot ridge.

After 46 years I finally connected with my first elk and my field pictures are horrible.

Considering the broken horn, you mounted that and display it perfectly. Whoever picked out that form did a really good job.

A few average bulls from Montana and Wyoming:

2008 Bull, finally got my MT res. and drew limited rifle tag, and shot the bull opening morning in the first couple of hours. The shot wasn't as good as I thought and bumped the bull. Spent Sun. afternoon, all day Mon., and finally found him on Tues. morn. Coyotes and birds had most of him chewed up, and the rest of the meat spoiled, but did everything I could do to make sure I recovered him. A hunt I will never forget and glad I found the bull even though the freezer was empty with elk meat.

The last picture is how I found my bull. A sad sight, but my hard work paid off and filled my tag. Would have been easy to give up and go try and find another bull.

The cow is my first archery elk kill from this fall 2012! Young cow and she is sure good eating!

It was the last morning and I was 13. First time, I remember my dad getting choked up on a hunt. My grandfather came up for the day as well. My most memorable 1.

ShootStraight's b&w image is killer!

My sister took her first bull the same year. She worked a lot harder than I did, which was the ONLY time she did! My grandfather (green jacket) was along for the hunt. I DO NOT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS, hunting is SO much better when you get to share it with loved ones.

Might as well add my dinks before more really big bulls show up.

My 2006 bull was my first bull and first archery elk. Listened to the herd bull bugle all night long while taking care of him.
