From time to time, I write to my favorite lame duck senator. A month or so ago, I wrote him that diesel at the Town Pump in Laurel was $5.249/gallon. Of course, I pointed out it has been an own goal. I closed saying $5.249 would likely be remembered fondly when filling up during this hunting season.

Last week diesel popped to $5.449.gallon in Laurel. So, he got another love note from me. This has been the president's gift to the entire world. The only beneficiaries are shareholders of the oil companies. Personally, this mess has benefited my retirement nest egg considerably. But, as the president might say, that is small potatoes, compared to the hardship it is causing so many.

My crystal ball somewhat hazy, but this stalemate could go on for a while.

Yellowstone Park effect. Gas was $4.89 in Gardiner, but $4.29 in Bozeman, which is only 80 miles away.
