See, to me this is such an ignorant post.
Go ask a group of minorities if they think a klan hood of any kind is acceptable.

Doesn’t matter if it’s red, blue, tie-die, etc. That hood has been a symbol of hate for years and some. How in the world could you sit here and say it has nothing to do with racism.

By your logic we can post swastikas as long as they are a different color and have a political motive?

Agreed. Folks can argue whether or not it’s overt racism or not all day long, but the combination of symbols whose ties to hatred and violence are well known with messaging that communicates people of certain political affiliation or preferences are that way as well certainly crosses the line into “not funny” at a minimum.

Posts which intended to inflame are more of a statement about the poster than the people who are the target of the post.

Easy to say something isn't racist when you are white.
Or to say something is not sexist if are a male. Or is not denigrating the disabled when you are healthy.

I worked for a huge tech company in the 1980s. A lot of testosterone in the air and we celebrated promotions with trips to strip bars using the company card, hung up racy calendars on the wall, told jokes about women, etc. Was quite normal and new hires, managers and senior executives were robust participants.

We were hiring more women and more minorities. The opinion of us in the "old guard" was they needed to embrace the culture of a successful company. A couple of big payouts tied to the culture brought the hammer down. No exceptions were allowed and if you did not take action as a manager, even if the complaint was against a customer, your job career was on the line.

It was no longer my place to decide if a Victoria Secret calendar was sexist that I had hanging on the wall in my office at work. If someone views that calendar as offensive when shows women in underwear, their opinion trumps mine. Perception trumps intent. I could decide to leave the calendar up and argue is benign and Nancy is being too sensitive though will be me carrying a box out the door later in the week.

Work is different than whatever this is. Laws versus moderator decisions. Red hat with MAGA on it is not racist, no matter the hat's shape. If that got BuzzH banned, it is for political, not racist views. Which is unAmerican.

Hard to believe the premier website for public land advocacy among hunters would ban one of the strongest voices for public land advocacy among hunters. Corner crossing is the direct result of efforts by Buzz Hettick. Buzz is not remotely racist, and everyone here knows this. His left-of-center personal politics are more closely aligned with social justice (the opposite of racism) than those of the majority here, including any who are gaslighting him with an unfair, undeserved epithet of racist. This is clearly, plainly, obviously, undeniably motivated by politics. Not racism. Attempting to silence a public land access and corner crossing hero by deliberately misinterpreting his political post as racist is MAGA AF, and points HT's political compass toward losing public lands. Shame on your hypocricy, @Lostinthewoods.

This is part of the problem currently. If you align yourself with anyone fully and give them free passes that should be a 🚩. Do you agree with your wife and/or best friend on everything? Do they make mistakes? What do you do when they make mistakes?

The question is what we do when mistakes are made? Do we hold people accountable, and then allow a “new day?” Do we “cancel” them? Do we give a free pass?

Elkduds,

The shame falls on you.
Buzz can be the most phenomenal person in the world, but that doesn’t give him a free pass to post a symbol of hate.

I have no clue who buzz is or what he’s done. Everyone is equal here.

For someone who is apparently such a pioneer for doing right, I have no idea why he’s posting symbols used to drive hate on a public forum.

A place that his enemies or anyone can quickly grab and use against him.

What would his bosses think of him posting that? What would his team around him think of that.

I’m a federal employee and know that no one at any level or any agency would tolerate a post like that.

It blows my mind that you think a moderator on a forum has some political agenda to silence someone. My guidelines are pretty simple. Enforce the rules of the page.

Now let me get real clear with you. I’ve worked next to men & women of every color, background, social status, political belief, religious beliefs, etc and never once in my life would it cross my mind to post such a stupid picture with hate symbol no matter what way you try to paint it.

You can get as frustrated as you want, but I deleted and banned a member who posted a KKK hood. End of story.

Now go write your own narrative and believe what you want.

I didn’t see the offense so I can’t comment on if it was ban worthy or just a time out. I’m glad I’m not managing this circus.

I see Buzz’s handle is still available but unable to comment. Suspension? Others I’ve seen get the ax say deleted member123. Buzz is a great contributor to HT but also one of its great arguers too.
