US and Israel attack Iran

I don't know what poll you saw and not that it would matter but you really only believe 20% of America supports the action? There are polls in the affirmative over 60%. They could build a nuke in less than a month depending on the type. Heck its only 80 year old technology. Only a fool thinks Iran is not a threat to the USA. I guess when the leader of a country says death to America and kills thousands of their own citizens you don't think our leaders should take the threat seriously?
Dude, lay of the Sean Hannity

I’m still wondering when my cost of living is going to go down like was promised a year ago

I’m sure this distraction campaign won’t come cheap
It'll take awhile to bring down prices that the Biden/Harris administration caused to spike. They had 4 years to destroy America; Trump has only been in for a year.

This is cable news addicted boomer slop.

Saw an interesting article quoting an Iranian immigrant. I was struck by the similarity to what I heard from an Iranian student 40 some years ago in my undergrad days.

The immigrant did say one thing that was new to me...related to how things changed since the fall of the Shah . Said a strong majority of Iranians have witnessed a public hanging by the regime.

Also said while the majority want change, the loyalists to the regime represent about 20% of the population, who through patronage have a much better life they will be unlikely to give up.

And...they have little trust the US will do what's needed to allow people to rise up without the regime rounding them up fir execution.

I thought we took out their nuclear program last June? Trump said,

"Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat," Trump said. "Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated." So they weren't able to build a nuke in 80 years, but after their facilities were 'completely obliterated' they are supposed to build a nuke in 8 months? SO why haven't they built a nuke then? The only thing that makes you safe from US bombing is owning a nuke.

Call me a fool but I don't think Iran poses an imminent threat to the USA. Why haven't they bombed us or initiated some sort of attack on US soil since we bombed them? I understand they hate us, but so do a lot of countries. That doesn't mean they're an imminent threat. We're only doing this because Israel wants us to and because Trump is an egomaniac.

I'd like to see the poll you're referring to. Support is minimal and no regime change has ever been completed without boots on the ground. Do the majority of Americans really support sending our men and women into the middle east again to overthrow a regime that essentially poses no imminent threat to the USA?

Even if Trump is 100% wrong I believe in the long term the US is safer. The world is safer. I base that on a couple things. One of which is Iran's own words and actions. I buy the fact that Iran wanted better capabilities to harm the US and was working toward that. Why wouldn't they . I also buy the fact that the Iranian people want freedom. I am acquittances with a local Iranian in our area we will call Bob. Bob goes back to visit his family in Iran. Bob has converted to Christianity. His father picks him up at the airport in Iran and carries the deed to his house with him. If they get stopped it is the only thing that will save Bob from being put to death. He tells me the people themselves are good and just want to live a normal life without violence. But everything is controlled by the government and they jail or kill anyone who has a different opinion. I believe Bob.

I think sometimes Trump needs to have duct tape nearby when he is talking or a muzzle. He overexaggerates a lot of things said, just like the strikes saying they were totally obliterated. Makes a good point, if they were completely destroyed what are we doing now? He has done good things and bad things like everyone else, just needs to stay away from the media when he is talking. Just my opinion.

The only way Iran winds up being run by a less oppressive regime is a long-term occupation by US forces ensuring free and fair elections and that opposition candidates aren't murdered by the hardliners that run the revolutionary guard. I haven't heard anyone in the admin say that is even a consideration. Although it would be ironic, if they decided to occupy Iran to ensure free and fair elections there while trying to eliminate them here.

They have a concept of a plan for handling a country of 90 million people. They just don't want to share any details.

No one with 4 firing brain cells would actually think Iran poses a threat to the US.

All these Teddy Fans who, when pressed on the actions of their tribe, completely denounce, "speak softly and carry a big stick".

The videos of the missile defenses are pretty sweet. I bet those are a helluva lot less expensive, both in dollars, political capital, and public opinion.

When are people going to get sick of this level is lies? This is so aggregeiously blatant that there is not amount of whataboutism that justifies it. Seriously, how's that yellow rain treating ya?

This is my thought. You have countries around there with similar beliefs to the actual people. No proof but I think there is a plan that hasn't been shared. As for the nuclear capabilities being wiped out last year. IDK. My guess we got most of it. But they were rebuilding or working toward that. In any case they had intent to harm the US and Israel. That I don't think is a debate. So waiting till they had everything they needed to do so and a contingency plan seams like a bad idea. That's ignoring the killing of its own citizens by the thousands

Lets say this was a lie. Or they had wrong information. Either way. Does that then make these strikes warranted or unwarranted?

I just hope Lockheed can find a way to keep up (they can't) or Trump winds this down before we and our collective allies have to become more selective with which missiles we intercept and we start seeing more and more service men and women and civilians killed over there.
