US and Israel attack Iran

Is it? Perhaps, but there is definitely more going on that 'freedom for the Iranians' and 'ending their nuclear program (which I thought we did last summer).'

Think about it. What president starts a war where there is no imminent threat to the US that something like 20% of the population supports only months before the mid-term elections?
I don't know what poll you saw and not that it would matter but you really only believe 20% of America supports the action? There are polls in the affirmative over 60%. They could build a nuke in less than a month depending on the type. Heck its only 80 year old technology. Only a fool thinks Iran is not a threat to the USA. I guess when the leader of a country says death to America and kills thousands of their own citizens you don't think our leaders should take the threat seriously?

Here is a poll showing only 27% support his actions in Iran. There are other polls showing similar results. I don't find any stating anywhere close to 60% support. Trump does not enjoy nearly that support, and this is not exactly his most popular decision.

If the conspiracy theorists were really using their noodle, they would be preparing for some dark shadow cast by this war to effect domestic policy home that would make the Covid Orders look like child's play.
Like threats of sleeper cell activation in the US and the admin declaring state of emergency and elections cancelled/postponed?

That or any other sort sudden disaster or “special circumstance” that would require the end of checks and balances, dissolve opposition parties, etc

Throughout history, authoritarians have taken power and not given it back in the wake of real and fake terror attacks.

WTF? It's like no one actually knows how complex things get built. It's never in months. You might be able to move dirt, but if we actually hit their nuclear sites then it's a setback of many years. Or are we literally saying, they started digging a deep hole, and before they could build stuff inside it, we had to destroy it?

60%? Was that on the MAGA 4 LYFE Facebook group or something?
Fox News:

Damn it! I was just going to sit down and peruse the latest developments when I got interrupted. A small herd of pigs wandered across the hillside across from the living room window. Decisions needed to be made. Watch the news or whack a piggy. It was getting close to dark and it's getting cold out. I watched the news while sitting next to the wood stove.PXL_20260303_005615039.jpg

Man, they look within range!

Saw an interesting article quoting an Iranian immigrant. I was struck by the similarity to what I heard from an Iranian student 40 some years ago in my undergrad days.

The immigrant did say one thing that was new to me...related to how things changed since the fall of the Shah . Said a strong majority of Iranians have witnessed a public hanging by the regime.

Also said while the majority want change, the loyalists to the regime represent about 20% of the population, who through patronage have a much better life they will be unlikely to give up.

And...they have little trust the US will do what's needed to allow people to rise up without the regime rounding them up fir execution.

I thought we took out their nuclear program last June? Trump said,

"Our objective was the destruction of Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat," Trump said. "Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated." So they weren't able to build a nuke in 80 years, but after their facilities were 'completely obliterated' they are supposed to build a nuke in 8 months? SO why haven't they built a nuke then? The only thing that makes you safe from US bombing is owning a nuke.

Call me a fool but I don't think Iran poses an imminent threat to the USA. Why haven't they bombed us or initiated some sort of attack on US soil since we bombed them? I understand they hate us, but so do a lot of countries. That doesn't mean they're an imminent threat. We're only doing this because Israel wants us to and because Trump is an egomaniac.

I'd like to see the poll you're referring to. Support is minimal and no regime change has ever been completed without boots on the ground. Do the majority of Americans really support sending our men and women into the middle east again to overthrow a regime that essentially poses no imminent threat to the USA?

Even if Trump is 100% wrong I believe in the long term the US is safer. The world is safer. I base that on a couple things. One of which is Iran's own words and actions. I buy the fact that Iran wanted better capabilities to harm the US and was working toward that. Why wouldn't they . I also buy the fact that the Iranian people want freedom. I am acquittances with a local Iranian in our area we will call Bob. Bob goes back to visit his family in Iran. Bob has converted to Christianity. His father picks him up at the airport in Iran and carries the deed to his house with him. If they get stopped it is the only thing that will save Bob from being put to death. He tells me the people themselves are good and just want to live a normal life without violence. But everything is controlled by the government and they jail or kill anyone who has a different opinion. I believe Bob.
