Societal Shift/Finding Negatives

@RidgeRunner76

Sorry to hear about your situation. The job market reports I hear is low hire/low fire situation right now.

I haven’t heard of the key word situation. It may be more of an issue in your area. I’d ask for a list for future interviews but I have a hard time finding the relevance to

hiring a good person. I have seen DEI and I’m indirectly affected by it being a white male.
Keywords. LEAN Manufacturing. Let's see, there are multiple philosophies.

KANBAN
KAIZAN
5S
LEAN 6 SIGMA
etc....
and other's. They all present an extremely great framework of decision making.

No waste.
No wasted effort
Continues improvement
Process development
On Time Delivery

Etc

The thing is, it takes time to development these. These Principles are Gold for entry to Mid-Level. I truly mean this.

Development of the Situation, Illumination of these things.

I know of 0 C-Suite types that follow a rigid Decision making process. They Develop the Situation via time and SMEs.

Yet, the expectations outside of this are different.

Corporate and Business Development is a different Matrix.
Simply put, this is Amazing!!!! How do we do it, and whats the cost are Executive Decisions making. It fits or it doesn't.

I'm just a soon to be 50 year old, with skills, knowledge and Gas in the tank yet.

My biggest goal is to repay what my Mentors asked of me.

Pay it Forward. Mentor, Teach, build something useful. That's all it will ever be.

Went through all of those at Cat.
Funny you mention CAT.

My greatest Mentor was a WW2 Pacific Campaign Survivor/Combat Vet who came home, did 25 years at CAT as a Manager, retired and was trying to help his son at the business I worked at for 25 years plus.

He was always there even though he 0 reason to be. Nights/Weekends and any other time we were working extra. Always made sure we were fed, booze on the seats of our car seats, extra cash when shit went sideways and especially with knowledge if he took interest in you. I miss him dearly not as a psuedo boss, but as a friend. Cancer took him unfortunately.

What i can do is pass his lessons on outside of legal restrictions today. I'm going to.

Government contracts = stability. Low to med volume with high margin is the sweet spot in manufacturing. Preferably products company in the defense space. They’re starving for lean manufacturing principles. You’ll feel like you’re on vacation compared to the alternative manufacturing environment. I know cause I spent the first decade of my career squeezing pennies out of high rate production environments, saving companies hundreds of thousands a year to be marginally rewarded. Finally said enough was enough. I won’t ever go back to high rate low margin production, it feels like you’re always racing to the bottom. I have a somewhat love/hate relationship with Lean principles.

Also doesn’t hurt to take a pay cut to get a foot in the door. Cream always rises to the top and usually fast.

Been doing all of these things.

Finding the right environment is a challenge but I'll leave it as this,

When can I start?

Once I have your Blueprint/Operations Plan in hand, we're off to the races.

Nothing of true quality is born overnight.

Many hiring mgrs and recruiters stink at their jobs. There are a lot of ways to do it wrong. Don’t believe it? Think of this, most of us have worked with people who can’t do their jobs and yet, we know great people who can’t get hired.

As a friend suggested, don’t take a no hire as a reflection of you. Just keep interviewing. After all, a no hire is better than getting the wrong job with the wrong company.

To be clear, it's not where I work just similar companies that operate in the same space. I did a quick search for your area on some of the companies I knew off the top of my head.
Fair.

I know Collins Aero, BAE, RTX, Sierra Aero, Safariland, SIG, and other's. Whether directly or not I'm not confirming or denying.

Power Generation wise,

General Electric
Alstom
B&W
Hitachi B&W
Reynolds Gear
Ontario Power
Oklahoma Gas&Electric
Pacificorp
Ameren
Duke
Eskom
And so many other entities I'd literally need to fire the desktop up.

None of that really matters. That was yesterday.

More interested in Today. Hopefully tomorrow as well.
