A few down trees on the loop from Seven Devils Campground to Gem Lake. Took Goat Trail from Sheep Lake Back to Campground. Some snow on Goat Trail. I would guess that snow is gone now or will be in the next few days.

Some of you have probably never experienced the strange mix of pleasure and suffering associated with picking wild blackberries. Due to thorns, heat and humidity, and me forgetting a headband, I actually shed blood, sweat, and tears in collecting these. My legs look like they might have caught a stray load of #8 shot. I will be digging the tips of thorns out of my hands for the next couple of weeks. And, I never come away from a blackberry patch without a tick or two.
But, I think the effort is worthwhile.

Pacific trailing or the Himalayan? Loved the smell driving down the old roads when the blackberries were ripe. Made much better jam than huckleberries in my opinion.

I doubt they are either of those since I live in the East but I am not sure what kind they are. Per the DNR website, there are about 20 species in West Virginia.
However, the biggest ones I have ever seen were above the Clearwater River near Orofino, Idaho.

I’m home nursing holes in my belly from getting my appendix yanked out a couple days ago. My boy however decided that 95 degrees and 80% humidity is a perfect time to go chase carp on the Missouri River . I’ll take appendix and A/C over heat, humidity and carp lol.

Having lunch at Devils Tower today ran down to Hulett Wy this morning to pick up a canvas copy of an oil painting a local artist did of my friend Dallas 25 years ago working a Wyoming ranch , with new technology he’s finally been able to rerelease copies of his old work after decades of them not available, had to have one for the wall at the house

I'm a big fan of my thornless variety in my yard. I remember as a kid there was a farm we tended to that had blackberries on the wood line. Would always raid the patch while digging potatoes.
