^This is everything. Every one of those individual issues plays into and supports the others. When we allow leaders (from politicians to podcasters) to fabricate alternative realities, then base large-scale societal decisions on those make-believe fairytales, then yeah, we're sowing our own crazy. We're complacent in creating a petri dish that fosters these radical misperceptions when we don't hold ourselves and our opinions to the same standards that we hold our adversaries' opinions.

Unfortunately, finding some middle ground in that is getting harder.

I wish both sides from the top down would come together and knock a lot of this off. We are being divided from the top down with phases and talking points. I doubt that will be the case since both sides are more worried about pointing the finger at the other side which will ultimately cause more violence. I saw a thing today listing a lot of these politicians that voted on some stuff in 82. To me that’s a huge part of our current problem they have let the country become more divided every year and I’m starting to think it’s by design.

Oh please, there literally was a school shooting the same day as Kirk's assassination. It received virtually no coverage. Other than thoughts and prayers, school shootings are a story for a day or three, and then placed on a back burner.

The Columbine school shooting happened in 1999. They have been far too frequent since then. They will continue, and we aren't inclined to take any changes to curb them.

The funny thing is, if you never talk politics and certain other views you can share a campfire with anyone….well almost anyone…some people just don’t mix even for whatever reason. One thing I have learned is how easily politicians and the media can weaponize an event to try and further the divide in this country. Even on a thread where everyone has kept things pretty civil. This country is boiling over and our leadership and media are willing to destroy it for money and power.
Gone are the days when we chose leaders who we thought were moral and honest. Now we choose our information based on who we want to think are moral.

It is interesting to me that there is so much attention to the unjust murder of a political figure, when we have largely numbed ourselves to students being shot while attending school. It is not like those kids have done a damn thing to draw attention to themselves.

I was hesitant to post on this thread, but those are my exact thoughts as well.

Just a couple weeks ago, two young kids were killed near where I live on their first day of school. Nearly 20 more were injured. No thread on Hunttalk and it vanished from the news in 2-3 days after a few thoughts and prayers. The simple fact is that school shootings are so common these days, they’re hardly newsworthy.

This is not to take away from the tragedy of Charlie’s murder. My heart breaks for his wife and kids.

Explains why he did the right thing and reported the murderer to the police. Even if it was his own son. Tough place the dad was in but looks like responsibility won out. Personally accountability seems to be missing in this day and age.

That is a tuff situation for a parent to be in. I can't imagine how hard that must of been for the family.

The local news is reporting several teachers from around the area have been placed on leave for posting on their social media about the Charlie Kirk incident.

Charlie is one of the reasons my daughter is now pursuing a political science degree (at woke CSU). I have nothing but gratitude for the positive influence he had on my daughter. He was supposed to be there next week, she had tickets. I suspect next thursday we will still go to pay respect. She is way pro-life, way conservative, knows the bible backwards and forwards. Help is coming fellas, from Charlies kids, and Christ.

I didn't read all 12 pages on this thread, but a thing that baffles me is folks sure talk alot about how this needs to get fixed, blah blah, blah. Newsflash, you can't fix evil. Only one person had the authority to cast out demons, Jesus Christ. We need a savior, not legislation.

If you read the bible, plenty of clues as to how this world ends. It will get "like the days of noah). The days of noah were so bad god wiped out the population of the earth. It is going to get worse, be ready. Buy guns, stockpile ammo, protect your family, believe, and proclaim christ as your savior.

I kinda feel like the thread here is more because this wasn’t a random act of violence. It was targeted for one reason or another. Don’t think anyone here has the intentions of taking away from a school shooting
