I have a 15yr old GMC Sierra 2500HD and think maybe Ill buy a new truck. What is everybody seeing in terms of discounts to MSRP? THE MSRPs Im seeing are around $90,000. Obviously, MSRPs vary a lot. What %of MSRP is considered a good deal on a GMC Sierra 2500HD??? 90%, 87%, 85%???? When I bought my truck 15 yrs ago, I believe I bought it around 90% of list. Thanks

I bought a GMC 2500HD AT4X about 10 months ago. Dealer gave about a 5% discount off MSRP.

Wow. BOHICA. A friend with an auto repair shop said that there are some pretty good dizcounts out there now. Just wondering. Thanks for your input.

I suspect the answer to this varies quite a bit by vehicle.

I ordered two back in May- just got one, still waiting for the other. I asked if he needed money down, and he said not to worry about it. If I don’t buy them, someone else will by the end of the week. I only got a few K off of MSRP (these were Toyotas).

My buddy just got a new F150, and they seemed a lot more willing to play ball.

Easy button is to go to Granger Motors out of Iowa. Just build/spec out the truck you want, download the build sheet PDF and email that to them. They'll get you an OTD price that's usually about 5% below INVOICE. Very low add-on bloat fees too.

They might also offer steep discounts on in-stock trucks also. I know they sell Ford and Dodge/Jeep.

I think some manufacturers like Ford are offering vehicles at Employee Pricing.

Just last week I was looking at a 2026 Chevy 3500 LT DRW. MSRP of $80,345 they discounted it to about $76,000. I passed on it, but am still considering it. Nearby dealer is offering a 25 with MSRP of $80,045 for $72,545 which looks like a pretty good deal to me.

I think this is key. Really depends on how common/unique of a trim or options you are looking for. For my AT4x, they really weren't looking to negotiate much as even though I ordered it and had to wait 3 months, they told me that if I ended up not taking ownership, they'd likely be able to sell it in a day or 2. I only put $1k down as a 'placeholder' because they just needed 'something' and weren't worried about being able to sell it.

My wife just bought a 2025 Lincoln SUV they she got at employee pricing because it had been sitting on the lot for 4 months. It looks like every other Lincoln on the road and they had about 1/2 dozen of the exact same '25s they were looking to get rid of. So they were willing to deal more.

If you are looking for a base 2500 I'd wager there are some dealers that would be more willing to play ball in order to move inventory. Still looking close to $70k for a diesel and $60k for a gas engine if you are just getting a no-frills SLE or Pro...

I ordered my ‘26 f250 on August 21 and it should arrive October 20 at local dealership. IIRC, 5.3% under MSRP.

Hats off to the guys that take those high dollar rigs hunting on shit roads. I couldnt stomach it.
My daughter just started working for a Ford dealer.

They just got in a Bronco Badlands.

Tells her mom we should get it for me to take to the hills, because its made for that.

$68,375 on the website.

More than my wife and I take home in a year.

My daughter doesnt realize that as she was texting her mom, I managed to dent my POS Toyota, and take out a taillight on a rock.

Yeah, that would get broke fast if I had control of it.

🤣

Subscription Service: 17% of new car buyers are paying more than $1,000 per month for 84 month payment and 53% of those folks purchased an SUV & 37% purchased a pickup truck. Average new vehicle price just jumped over $50k per car.

Used Car stores are specializing in $25,000 - $35,000 vehicles now.

Every $10,000 financed is about $200 - $250 in car payment depending on your credit, so these used cars are hitting the sweet spot of $400-$500 car payment with required down payment.

RAM doesn't seem to be published right now. I believe that they may be getting ready for intense incentives to drive customer business to the dealership to drive down inventory.

I found this example:

$4,000 Total Bonus Cash Allowance on select vehicles in dealer inventory
ON 2025 RAM 2500 TRADESMAN® CREW CAB 4X4 6'4" BOX
Incentive Value
  • National Overaged Select Inventory Bonus Cash
    $2,000
  • National Bonus Cash
    $2,000
  • Total Bonus Cash Allowance on select vehicles in dealer inventory
    $4,000
---------------------------------------

Expect the MSRP in general to increase with new model years with added features, but also OEMs passing on tariff costs discreetly. I would expect to see less and less base line vehicles as people are demanding feature rich cockpits & safety equipment with their vehicles. The OEMs can reduce manufacturing costs by reducing variation so everyone gets the same stuff- collision avoidance or rear view cameras are expensive to purchase and install unless you do it for every vehicle spreading the costs and scaling to market for example. Good for most, but some folks still just want a simple vehicle without the $7k price walk in MSRP that that stuff gives.

I would consider waiting just a little bit longer. Seems as though vehicles are just starting to get backed up on the lots. I suspect better deals will be coming.
