I just finished my big game hunting season up last weekend. I was drawn for limited quota elk in eastern MT and had the unique opportunity to hunt for a bull elk in a really cool Montana area. I took my kids along several times, camping out mostly, and they were able to call elk and have them respond. The area I hunted is known to have low populations that can be difficult to hunt due to how wide they range. It's also known to have some large bulls. I hunted several areas, but ended up finding my bull in the area I know best and have hunted in many times for deer in the past. I was hoping to load my eastern MT elk up whole in the truck, but it required a day and a half of hauling meat on my back to get him out. He's a really neat old bull and apparently liked to fight. So at least I know he wasn't gay. I had a pretty great season and hunted with friends and family most times I went. I passed on a few really good animals during archery and rifle season and as the season went on, I started to see fewer and fewer older bulls as they usually distance themselves from the other elk. I was super lucky to have taken this guy as he was only the 3rd bull I'd seen in the last 5 days of hunting and this was the last time I could get out due to family and work obligations. A non-resident from Wisconsin who was hunting deer heard my shots and showed up to pose in the hero photo of me and my elk. The other photos are me with my spring bear, the first one I saw, the Geico caveman and me with my antelope. The caveman also arrowed one that day. My mule deer, that I bumped into two weekends before I got my elk. I also hunted with my little sister who did a guided hunt with the best outfitter in MT (Breaksrunner). She took an beautiful mule deer, a super pronghorn buck, and a cow elk, all on the same weekend. I videotaped the entire event. Pretty awesome to live in MT where we can enjoy this kind of fun on a few weekends.

Now, I have to ask what happens when you go to take a leak?

Dear Eastmans,

I never in a million years thought this would happen to me but..............................

:D

Great year, Kurt. It was nice to see the number of times you took the kids with you on these hunts. They seem like the best troops in the woods. Surely make for sweeter memories.

Nice to see Schmalts there to spruce up your trophy photo. Hopefully he helped haul some elk meat to the truck.

Congrats on a great year.

Yeah, that's a pretty good season. Congrats! Sorry about the cheesehead....

Congrats on another really great year, some really high quality critters!

I've known you quite a long time. I've hunted with you, and you with me. I know how dedicated you are. Despite all this, I still find myself amazed at the end of each season of just how consistently you kill obscenely over sized animals. Simply amazing!

Looks like a great year Kurt. Congrats. I didn't realize that you were such good friends with Doyle Moss. He is looking a bit more rugged these days.;)

Dink, I was waiting for the "It all started with me heading to the mailbox and seeing the envelope"............blah blah

Fantastic year! Your sisters animals are impressive as well. The only other thing that comes to mind besides great bull in the last pic is, Ace and Gary............

So that's what a straight elk looks like. I must have been hunting in Sodom.

Nice season!

That cheese-head put his hand on my shoulder once...just once. Apparently the hair still hasn't come back.

Another great year Kurt.
