HTer Goals '25 Edition

I continue to spin, but am now out on my mountain bike a ton. I’m doing modified yoga right now after jamming my wrist and pointer finger going OTB after clipping my rear tire on a jump. I feel great. I’ve been helping building some trails too.

Elbow surgery on Monday to clean out bone and cartilage fragments. I’ll keep spinning, and be back out soon.

Surviving winter without gaining much weight is a challenge. Seems like I've accomplished that this year. Now that the snow is leaving its time to hike more. I need to have targets to reach, immediate goals like steps per day, then steps per month. Beating last years Jan, Feb, and March numbers - so far so good. Steps sinking in the snow on a mountain side the other day were different from the usual walking around the neighborhood steps, but they all help.

Accomplished the seasons goal of doing the rim to rim to rim so early in the season and without getting injured that I think I need a new goal for this season now. I mostly have avoided running and would like to work on that ability.

Here’s a video of our hike from this past weekend that my friend put together.

That’s hard core! My neighbor did it with his son a couple of summers ago. Straight thru - 17 hrs. It was a bucket list thing for turning 65 that year.

As expected, my gym attendance has waned this spring. Went from 4-5 days a week to 2-3 days a week. Put on about 3-4 lbs, so not too bad. Drawing an archery tag in WY has inspired me to get back to the gym and cut off those extra pounds.
Sore, but still showing up.
Quitters only win with substance abuse and gambling. Go get some pump!

Still grinding in Spokane! I’ve been sick with freaking fungus in my lungus (thrush) for a month. It was caused by my inhaler, and a combo of elbow surgery and an abscess tooth. So dumb. I’ll be back.

Moved back to Montana in February. Driving a desk for two years had taken its toll. So. Went skiing, got back into rugby, started working out again. Things were looking up.

Then I picked up something resembling pneumonia- 103-104 fever for 5 days, coughing 3 weeks, couldn’t climb stairs or go outside without a coughing fit that brought me to my knees. Lost 11 lbs because I was coughing too hard to eat. Probably should’ve gone to the hospital.

Finally was able to run two miles Saturday- 20 minutes. Not great. Sunday- 19 minutes. Better.

Hitting the gym to lift 2x a week, then swimming or running 3x a week, plus sports 2x a week for wind sprints. It’s going slow, but I’m considering it rehab/PT at this point. Need to get up to a decent 5k pace for a race I was volunteered for next month.

Hiking to come soon. I need some high country in my life.

Goals with determination will put the high country enjoyment back into life.
After several years of boasting about no Covid, it hit big time in December, exacerbated by a sinus infection and then bronchitis ... just shortly following my four-score birthday. The 2025 prediction was for a life at the old folks' home or even cashing in my tags for the happy hunting grounds.
Then with determination, 'signed up for the family traditional Ice Breaker Race in Great Falls, followed by the Sweat-For-Vets 5k in Bozeman. Once the coughing relented, 'started running again (or my senior version thereof) and conditions improved much. Now back to running the hills and hiking hard, Saturday includes running the Gov Cup 5k and gathering with some of the octogenarian GFHS classmates at the York Bar for beverages, burgers, and BS. Each year as we end the celebration, we commit to meeting again the following year and pledge to continue with the goals and determination which keep one moving ahead! As my 101 yr old Mom would oft express, "Move it ... or lose it!"

Stepped on the scales one year ago today and said, “holy hell, I gotta do something.” This morning I was down 60# from then. Gonna blow it all the way out today and set some more goals tomorrow. 😉

Nice job man, your day-to-day must feel so much better after a drop like that👍
