Corner crossing SCOTUS appeal

It will be really interesting to see if the AG in MT tries to prosecute. They dropped one a couple of years ago, because I personally think they would rather get a ruling from SCOTUS and are afraid to make definitive precedent in MT.

For as long as it is unsettled law in MT, the AG and FWP get to keep people from corner crossing out of fear of prosecution. It's actually smart on their part. Make it a risk so people still refrain from doing it, but don't create precedent.

This is why I'm an advocate of taking civil action against a landowner illegally blocking a corner under the unlawful inclosures act. As a community we should be playing offense instead of defense.
This . . .

Wanna go find some together!?

Merry Christmas!
I'd like to personally thank you for your efforts (and dollars) in contesting the legality of corner crossing all the way to the US Supreme Court. It was a generous donation. Now not only can I cross the corners on your ranch, but also on all the ranches across most of the west! it literally opened up millions of acres of previously questionable access. Thanks Pharma Bro! And Merry Christmas!

Even though we got the 'win', don't think for moment that the Wyoming Welfare Stockgrowers are going to make it easy on you out there on public land. Regardless of CC or accessing large swathes of public land, they'll still be trying their bluff charging to fool you that your on private and do remember, the large landowners have the Wy Game and Fish in their back pocket so don't expect hunter harassment charges to be filed but do expect that you'll be looked over hard by that twig pig to write you up for something.

Eshelman had had a bunch of support, including the Carbon Co sheriff, County Attorney and Game and Fish so we didn't just beat a greedy opioid king, we beat a stable full of sellouts

I've already been somewhat aggressively halted by a landowner in his SxS in Wyoming who claimed I wasn't watching my footsteps while packing out a dead pronghorn a few weeks ago.

I showed him my tracks and bid him adieu.

Little did he know I hopped one of "his" corners the day before.

The good think about OnX is it keeps landowners and hunters both from winning stupid prizes.

Why the hell would you show anyone your tracks?

to end the conversation.

"show" is a strong word. i flashed my onx in his face to let him know i am indeed paying attention, i barely even stopped walking.

if you're referring to the corner, he remains ignorant.

if you weren't trespassing what does it really matter anyway?

to simple say "eF off" would of sufficed

I'm perfectly fine with how I handled the situation. Being an asshole doesn't benefit me in that situation or public land hunters in general.

The anecdote was more of a testament to the previous post in that the landowners are indeed out and about and grumpy.

I agree that that was probably for the best.

I often dream of being an asshole in a situation like that, because it is a happy thought to put someone in their place when I'm so clearly in the right. But when confronted with someone face to face I usually try to de-escalate as well. And then, in the days to come, I ponder all the wonderful zingers and retorts I could have made.

I guess I just have to settle for being an asshole online sometimes instead.

So now refusing to show someone something, that they have absolutely no right to see, makes you an asshole? I think it just makes you right.

How are we hopping these corners? Just zooming in as close as possible on onx? Finding the actual marker?

I didn’t say that makes you an asshole. Cursing him out in a somewhat tense but otherwise adult exchange does. But to each their own
