Cocktail sauce goes good with shrimp.I suppose to a purist like you, dunking them in seafood cocktail sauce is the same as dumping ketchup on a good steak?
I mean, there’s a few places that serve decent fresh oysters, but they’re not specifically oyster bars.Good advice.
Freshest oysters found years ago as I was water skiing Hood Canal near Puget Sound. Swinging into a bay with a nice beach for lunch, I dropped the ski rope and my ski settled into a bed of oysters. Unloading the beer and snacks, we filled the cooler with fresh oysters. Salt water from the Hood Canal flavored the fresh oysters nicely.
BTW, Bozeman wouldn't be that bad anymore if a fresh oyster bar would open.![]()
1) mama macs still makes good Biscuits and gravy, but don't even order anything else
2) dave's was never the best sushi place in town, and is now maybe not even top 3 - hooked is the best. then seven. then town pump. then dave's. and finally hachi.
3) tabasco and a splash of soy souce on oysters is the best way to eat oysters
Oysters are great...raw, smoked, grilled, but good Rockefeller is my all time favorite.Raw fish is good and I've not been sick from it. Like some other life risks - sometimes it's worth it sometimes it isn't, make good choices. Raw beef is better though, done right
.
@mtmuley it really depends what you have them with. Vinegar/lemon/soy sauce is common with them raw and it produces slightly different flavors to compliment the oyster. Id say it sort of tastes like a slimy shrimp. I also like oysters Rockefeller style - which is how id recommend having them if you aren't sure if they are fresh and high enough quality to consume raw. It's actually not hard to cook, worth a try.

Oysters Rockefeller
Oysters Rockefeller is simple to prepare but so impressive! It's a perfect dish for Christmas, New Year's Eve or Valentine's Day.www.thewickednoodle.com
It used to be great. I would not order a piece of toast from there now days.I haven’t had one in quite some time but mama Mac’s used to make a killer breakfast sandwich. Is that not the case anymore??
No. But the cinnamon rolls are still pretty killer, when they have them.I haven’t had one in quite some time but mama Mac’s used to make a killer breakfast sandwich. Is that not the case anymore??
What are the sticks for? mtmuleyI used to get ahi tuna mail order from Costco that I’d eat raw. Came in 10# box of individually packed 6oz portions. Between my daughter and I, we’ve probably eaten 100# of it. Never had an issue. Unfortunately, they no longer carry it.
