Wyoming, we dont want you DIY hunters.....

Buzz (or anyone else), do you remember the mapping website that was hosted/produced by, IIRC, UW? That thing was slick, but again IIRC funding ran out and the website went bye-bye. Any chatter about getting that one up and running again?

Guys, WY does suck and Buzz is quite a prick, a horrible host, and really not all that helpful...

Yes, I remember it and it was pretty helpful. Funding huh, I wondered what had happened to it.

Well I can't add anything real useful to this other than say yes, all DNR websites in general make it hard to find everything you need. I have looked at many of them just to start researching and it's a PITA.

In the REAL world a company that has multiple websites like this would have the exact same looks and feel, as in the site looks the same and the info is in the same spot for each one. Why the heck the DNR can't get their crap together is beyond me. They always blame money....cop out!

Before the web you just called or relied on other people to help out. My suggestion is call them and don't let them off the phone until you have what you require, they are there to help and since the website blows, that is what I would do.

I myself did find WY a bit hard to find things, but after being on it a few times I'm ok with it, there is for sure times where I click around allot to find things....pretty sad this day and age.

Good luck !

I've never tried to use maps through the WDFG website but I've never had a problem finding all the info I need and more. I consider my self computer illiterate. I can find all the pertinent info on Wyoming's site easy
The last two years calls to wardens and hunt coordinators got me into elk on the first day. I physically wasn't able to pull it off but I was into elk. I wish every state was as hunter friendly as Wyoming.
Three seasons ago Buzz spent a lot of phone time with me going over maps in detail. He took the time out of his busy life to help a complete stranger have a great hunt. That trip I came home with a good pronghorn and an elk. He's passionate about his state's wildlife.

I have always felt that Wyoming does a really good job on their website. They seem to be about the best at getting their drawing and harvest statistics posted and updated. They generally post their drawing statistics the same time as they post the results which is awesome.

They have a lot of other information good information online as well, but it does sometimes take a little bit of poking around to find it all.

Regarding the Wyoming Resident Guide requirement:

This the reply I received:

Zach:
Thanks for your inquiry about Wyoming's resident guide requirements. Wyoming Statute (23-2-401) states: "There shall be at least one licensed professional guide or resident guide accompanying each two nonresident hunters." So, the resident guide must be with you afield while hunting. How physically close to you "accompanying" means is not specifically defined in statute. But to comply with the spirit of the law the guide should be close enough to you for the two of you to be able to have verbal (without aid of electronic device such as walkie-talkies or cell phones) contact if needed. The dictionary definition of accompany is: "to go along with; join in company."

Our use of the term "companion" in the Q&A was probably not a good idea and your confusion is understood.

I hope that answers your question. Best of luck on your Wyoming big game hunt.
Best wishes,

And why I haven't toasted your permissions yet, is beyond me. I'm about there, though.

Your buddy you refer to had a propensity to use the "F-word," a lot. When he was told to quit, and that was on multiple occasions, he would go back to threads from before I owned the site (pre-2008) and try to find other cuss words, then post them on the forum. He would send me PMs giving me the business and using his fine language. One of the smartest things I ever did on this site was send him packing. I should have done it sooner. He was the second person who ever pushed me far enough to get banned.

I try to moderate any cussing, but I don't always catch it. I don't moderate the F-word, rather I toast the user.

No surprise you guys are friends. He would snivel about everyone else and was usually the first one to stir the pot. Then, complain when the pot boiled over on him. Kind of like you do.

Some of the guys you always complain about add a lot of information to users of this forum. Yes, at times, the communication styles of some rub me wrong and they know it.

With that, you got anything of value to add to this thread, or do you just chiming in this morning to get your daily dose of complaining and criticism of how this forum operates?

Actually Fin I was attempting to add to this thread. I was attempting to politely let you know that the behavior you allow in this thread and many others is not acceptable or productive these days. Clearly you didn't get the message.

You allow you biddies to run around here insulting and trashing anyone they see fit even people who regularly bash gays.

So here you are standing up for internet bullies, personal insults, and gay bashing. All while being an arrogant cocky prick yourself. I'm standing up for what right, treating people with respect, and not bashing people based on how they hunt or or their sexual orientation. Gay bashing is not acceptable in 2015.

You are too blind to see how out of line that behavior is because you have some of the same problem yourself. You do many of the same things that the other internet bullies on this site do. I know you have told me I was an ass hat and you were sizing me up for one because my brain was so small. Your response to my last post was another perfect example of the internet tough guy act.

Do you really think that is acceptable behavior for someone who is supposed to be a professional, a well respected outdoorsman, and someone who involves himself in hunting industry politics? Really?

Do you really think it is acceptable to allow Greenhorn and Shoots straight to run around like teenage boys calling people limp wristed, ass aching, pillow biting, homos? REally? I'ts not. The fact that you allow it is an embarrassment on many levels and and insult to the hunting community.

Do you really think it is acceptable to let you buddies trash people simply because they are frustrated with a web site? Really? I have been frustrated with that site myself. Lots of information but sometimes difficult to navigate.

You guys love the way you hunt. That is great. Tell us how great it is everyday. Post pictures and videos. We love to see and hear about it not to mention talk about it.

But when you decide to bash on the way everybody else hunts is where you cross the line. Loving the way you hunt is one thing, but telling everyone else that their way sucks is unnecessary and divides hunters. There is almost always a hunt bashing thread going on this site. Between crossbows, muzzleloaders, lighted nocks, tree stand hunting, hunting over feeders, hunting with dogs, hunting long range, hunting with 4 wheelers, Hunting in Africa, hunting private land, etc... You bash on 98% of hunting while telling everyone how dumb they are for hunting how they do. That makes this an anti hunting site IMO. I don't understand why you allow that to go on but it reflects poorly on you and your organization IMO, not to mention all hunters.

I have helped many people on this site and give advice on areas I have gone. I have never asked for any help. I have given but not taken. I will contribute no more.

Guys like Buzz have lots of good info, but they have no people skills and in the end he is a double edged sword that does more harm than good. The last person I would want representing hunters in a meeting is a hot head. People who have worked for the government most of their life have a twisted view of reality and expectations of behavior because they basically can't be fired. People who act like Buzz don't' make it far in the private sector. Loud mouth jerks who know it all but are too lazy to work from being a federal employee for so long and think they deserve things, and to top it off love to tell everyone how dumb they are or how few firing brain cells they have. . People like Greenhorn are the same way and lack understanding of what is acceptable and how to act in a professional or public environment. They get angry and start telling people they are limp wristed pillow biting homos and he gets fired. These are the last people you want representing hunters IMO. But you allow these people to run around here like they own the place bashing people, other styles of hunting and even gay people for no reason whatsoever. You must be really proud.

You really showed me Fin. You really showed me.

My guess is one bridge too far...

Buzz,

I wish you could think about your behavior and how it comes across. You are a smart guy but need to work on your people skills to get you message across to more people IMO. The angry insulting responses don't generally work well in professional or public situations. The insulting does hunters no good. If you don't' have something nice to say bite your tongue or finger in this case. Your posts in this thread accomplished nothing positive and reflect poorly on you.

....this should get interesting.......

I will go out with my message heard and act in a professional way. I think the message is that important and if I act like they do it won't accomplish anything positive. Which is what I want to see come of this. Greenhorn needs to know that gay bashing is not OK as well.

It was said on another site that One of two thing are true about Buzz: Either he has false teeth or he has never been in a bar. lol

Had a few funny PM's. This was a good one.

You are 100% correct about BuzzH, Greenhorn, and SS. I have no respect for any of them, but I think you went just a little too far in trying to get your message across the way you attacked Randy. He's a very busy guy and probably doesn't see or read a lot of stuff that goes on here. I'm constantly into it with BuzzH and the way he always talks down to people. He could do so much more good with his knowledge of lots of things and yet constantly puts his foot in his mouth. IMHO Greenhorn is just a complete asshole and waste of time such that I have him on Ignore. SS is very close to the same!

Just one of the many prime examples on these recent threads of the "professional way" you speak of conducting yourself.

Carry on .....

It seems that you still don't get it. That is unfortunate. Until you hold people accountable for their behavior its wont' change. You need to set a better example considering your a public figure that represents himself as a hunter and controls this site. Allowing it to go on on your site means you have the blood on your hands as well. You are a better person than this. You work in a professional and public environment and know that type of behavior is not acceptable. I hope someday you think about it again with an open mind and a positive message.

To be clear I used to participate in the insults and am ashamed and embarrassed of that. I got to reading old posts one night and realized I was part of the problem. I want to be part of the solution.
