How and why does Isreal have so much sway on America???

I'll take a stab at this.

I think much of it stems from the aftermath of the Holocaust. I doubt there is a country of Israel, absent it.

After the creation of Israel, the free world was protective of the fledgling country. Certainly in the US they had near universal bipartisan support, for many decades.

It is a political third rail to openly criticize Israel. Netanyahu has taken great liberties with this reality. He has done many things that put the US in a tough spot.

We will never know how much of this war is our initiative and how much is Israel's. Certainly, Israel has more directly at stake than we do. I think Netanyahu has been trying to convince the US to take out Iran for many years. It seems he found his man.

There are fissures in the universal bipartisan support. This war will likely cause them to open further.

Interesting how anything negative about Israel is labeled “anti-Semitic”. They’ve really played that up with any and all backlash on what they’ve done in Gaza. If you don’t agree with what they are doing, then you’re “anti-Semitic”. That’s total BS.

Israel was once the terrorist. Since they became a country, they have had to defend themselves very often. Many times using our armaments that they have heavily modified to improve upon. At he heart of most of this is the religion. People have been killing each other over beliefs since the dawn of time. The one thing our founding fathers figured out was "separation of church and state". Many countries are founded on their religion and it us good to die for Allah. That is a real problem when it comes to Nuclear weapons. We are the only country so far that has used them and not so much in a defensive motion but more in an economical sense. Less death on our side and a faster conclusion to the war. The religious zealots would use them very soon after they had one available with all kinds of volunteers available. Remember when France sold the Iraqis a nuclear plant and then Israel took it out before completion. Probably a good thing for the world. One of the problems of the USSR falling apart was all the nuclear scientist looking for work. The genie cannot be put back in the bottle. We need to do everything we can to prevent the end of the world even if a comet or asteroid might shortcut us. Most of us have children and grandchildren.
If the people of Iran cannot take over their country and form some type of coalition govt soon, there is going to a bloodbath for all the ones that tried. Trump is not going to deploy ground troops to Iran in any measurable quantities. He doesn't have the fortitude for it and the American people do not have the stomach for it. If the Russians and the Americans couldn't tame the Afghanis, we certainly would not stand a chance in Iran. It is scary to see that the Afghanis and Pakis have started a war, one being a nuclear armed group. That is a scary thought. Done rambling now.
