I was fortunate enough to help one of my best friends and his two boys on their first deer hunts. I know Patrick and Mason put in some time prepping for their hunt and it paid off.

On the second morning of the hunt I took off into a wilderness area with Patrick. Bret and Mason took off into the same area but to the East of us. After about an hour I glassed up six bucks that were pretty far from Patrick and I. Just as I was trying to figure out a way to get to them, I saw Bret on the far ridge above the bucks.

Patrick and I signaled them in as best we could until they were out of our line if sight. About 30 minutes later we hear the rifle crack. After a little longer than we wanted tracking it, 11 year old Mason had his first big game animal ever.

After the deer was taken care of, we headed back out for a evening hunt with Patrick. About 10 minutes into the evening hunt we glassed up some does with a 2x2 trailing behind. Patrick had a 200 yardish type shot and dropped his first big game animal with one clean shot. It was really cool and I'm glad I was invited to go along on the hunt.

Great job. At what age can youngsters hunt down there? I had to wait until 14 to carry my own tag.

Way to help a friend and youngsters. You guys will have hunting buds for life!

Awesome!

Great story, and pictures, but the best part is that the boys will remember that for the rest of their lives. Thanks for giving them a positive experience to share with their friends and family. I love seeing all of the kids and female hunters on this site, most of them taken hunting by a bunch of good ol boys that aren't selfish and want to share what they love so much!! great job everyone!!

The boys are smiling with dad in the picture, but have their game face on when it was your turn. What did you say?

Congrats on getting to be a part of that, Stan.
