Truck stolen, feelin down

Yep. I love my 2003. Driving it till the wheels fall off. mtmuley
Mine is 2001 and put 260K miles on it used. But now got right rear axle seal leaking and needing replaced, exhaust rusted out and needs replaced all the way to the manifold, under carriage rust is bad, underneath is caked in spots with a coat of mud, previous owner screwed up electrical so I have always dealt with shorts I never found, transaxle wore down and needs rebuild, motor about to die and had to drill out two spark plug holes and insert adapter sleeves into them, drivers door has severe wind damage where wind caught it and slammed it open bending hinges out of alignment. About ready for grave yard. Replacing it with another used one just younger model. My wheels are close to falling off. Completely rebuilt brake system from cylinder down a year ago. Don't wanna stick too much more $$$$ into it. Gonna be going for 2010-2020 range. I had my truck stolen too but because of the short, battery went dead when the thief left the dome lights on. A friend located mine, just happened to be in same parking lot where he lived. Cops waited until someone came down and fiddled with the pickup and busted two young kids who had stolen vehicles before. Radio completely ruined tho cuz they were just starting to pull it out. Mine also had GPS so if it took any longer, the cops would of had it's location anyways.

Typically, auto insurance covers damages and losses from auto theft IF you have comprehensive coverage. It does not cover personal items left inside the vehicle unless you have additional coverage for personal property.

I’m sorry, but glad that you got it back. I still feel that a lot of this is encouraged by catch and release judges

Were talking about the catch and release earlier at home. The jails are so full of minor offense people that there's no more room. I don't see a fix unless they start some in one out system or stop jailing some of the lesser "no harm/victim" bad guys.

@nhenry - Glad you got it back! One thing to keep in mind; don’t get ‘bitter/paranoid’ about whoever that jack-off was that stole your truck.

Just remember; there are 1,000’s of people who walk/drive/see your truck everyday that would never steal someone’s personal property. There’s way more good in the world than one dead beat with nothing to lose

Id stick to 01-06 in liue of 10-20 if your long term goal is longevity, if your sticking with gm.The AFM (active fuel management) in the newer series is poo and cause excessive oil consumption. In addition to that - i think the gmt800 cabs actually better (esp with less rattles) than the gmt900.

Owned both.

Ford. I am a Ford man. LOL But looking at Toyota Tundras. I am approaching 70 faster than I like so I want one that will outlast me at this point in time.

When you get it back you should go over it thoroughly especially if you have littles in your truck.

We had a car stolen and recovered. Thought that we got lucky as nothing was really destroyed. Had to fumigate and use an ozone machine on the interior because they stunk it up but it was otherwise okay. Months later, we were detailing it to sell, and found a hypodermic needle stuffed between the seats.
How many jars of mustard?

I do miss my 2007 occasionally, but then I remember and love all the creature comforts of my 2018. Once the trans (or just torque converter) are replaced, they're solid trucks. Occasional lifter issues, but much less if you have a shop tune out the AFM.

The only time I really miss my 2007 is when I am driving up a sxs trail in my truck. Cared a lot less about that one than my 2018.

I miss my dad’s old 05 Chevy half ton, wish I would have bought it from him, even at 200,000 plus. Those older GMs were just great trucks, I used a bunch for work as well.

I have a low mileage 1999 Yukon. Well, my wife does. Last of the 350 engines. I would hunt it, but she won't let me. Garaged and babied. Gonna keep it forever. mtmuley

My 2007 cat eye was at 280k when I sold it to get my 2018. Great truck, but I do like the 6 speed quite a bit better than the 4 speed of the older ones.

In a perfect world, we could easily Frankenstein a truck together with the parts and features we liked from all of them. I miss the ball chiller in my '96 silverado!

I know they basically didn’t make any, but my ideal truck would be a 00-06 2500 with a 6.0 and a 5 speed manual, auto locking rear differential. I’ve spent a bit of time thinking about how I’d piece that together…

If they would make a mid to late 90's or early 2000's again. I'd buy one, tomorrow. I've been looking pretty hard lately and I can't even get excited about a new truck. All they really have to offer is a bunch of tech bs imo. Im thinking about buying a w/t model and just changing the wheels and the grill for looks. Salesman warned me I won't get the heated steering wheel or the tailgate with a button🙄. I know, thats the point.
