Thoughts on the best 1911 / 2011 in 10mm

I love how these threads turn into “I can’t answer your question so I will make a pitch for you to change your mind. My favorite that you didn’t ask about is….”

I have big hands and have always gone for double stack Para Ordnance. 45 ACP

When I was looking at a 10mm I went with the Rock Island Ultra. It has been solid for me and delivers 16+1 in a 1911 platform. You can spend more and get their tactical platform. I’m actually not sure if they sell my model any more.

Mine does not have a rail but is ambi with adjustable rear sight and fiber front.

These got a lot of hate when they first came out but opinions are coming around.

Mine has been flawless but with not tolerate limp wrists.

I'll second the recommendation of the Rock Island 1911. My RIA .45 1911 runs like a champ. Cost is WAY less than the Colt or the Kimber.

Hey brother thanks for your reply. I actually own a S.W .40 striker fire and love it! I think im just stuck on the 1911/2011 thing because I have never owned one and im itching to get one.

If you really want a 2011 (which I highly agree with, best guns on the planet imo) I'd get a SF 10mm for this application and get a 9mm 2011 for range/comp. There are just soooo many amazing options for 2011s in 9mm that will give you an amazing experience and be a lot more fun to shoot IMO.

Not saying a 10mm 1911 or DS 1911 wont be fun, that platform just absolutely shines in 9mm, plus I'd be a lot more confident carrying a SF platform in rough country to be honest. A lot more things to go wrong with 1911s (even though I love them).
