Hey guys basically just looking for opinions and insights regarding 10mm 1911's or 2011's.

I have been looking all over the internet and there are just so many options I was hoping some of yall have some experience with them.

My budget is max 2000$ this will be a gun that goes with me into dangerous game country.

(Sorry not a glock guy so don't bother. Yes im sure they are fantastic I just dont care alright sue me lol)

If you're not a fan of Striker Fired the P220 in single action has a decent trigger and is a solid gun. your options aren't great for DS1911s in 10MM unfortunately. For under 2k you're not gonna have a lot of really great DS 1911s even in 9mm and that's my favorite platform.

I’ve shot a Kimber 10mm, and I previously owned a Kimber .45 and now own a Springfield .45. I’m carrying the Springfield as I type this. I liked all of them, all were reliable and would be good choices for a defensive pistol. For that budget I really like the Springfield TRP, but they don’t make one in 10mm. The Colts are nice too, but I haven’t heard a lot of great things about them as out of the box guns from guys who have them. The higher end Colts are probably great, but I’ve never shot one.

I also wouldn’t rule out a 9mm or .45 either, they all just punch holes and will all punch through a bear skull.

While that’s probably true, I had a charging feral hog soak up 7 rounds of 9mm on the way to collapsing at my feet. And he was only about a buck fitty.

I now carry a 10mm stuffed with Buffalo Bore. Not sure how many of those a pissed off bear can handle, but it’s a verified one shot stopper on hogs.

I get the no-Glock position, but that apply to all striker guns? You get a LOT more capacity and features for a LOT less money. S&W, Sig, and FN all make guns I have shot and like for different reasons. My personal choice among them would be the S&W, I like the grips and trigger the best. They offer it in a few sizes. If you want a hammer gun I would go with the P220 but the DA/SA....zero reason to have that gun without the safety and versatility of DA(especially when carrying). If you HAVE to have a SA gun my choice would be the Dan Wesson and right at your price point https://www.basspro.com/p/dan-wesson-razorback-rz-10-1911-optics-ready-semi-auto-pistol

Not discounting your experience at all, but I’ve shot a lot of critters with a variety of handguns and have never seen a lot of difference from 9mm, .40, 10mm, etc until you start getting up into .44 mag territory. If you want to stop a bear before it gets to you, it better be a CNS hit, and a 147 grain 9mm will give you equal or better penetration than a 10mm. I feel completely comfortable packing a 9mm in grizzly country, but I understand not everyone is going to agree.

Full disclaimer I don't own any 10mms, its effectively the creedmore of pistols to me. I do own numerous 45s including 1911s and while I love the guns I wouldn't buy one in 10mm. 10mm's to me (all this is my opinion) belong in striker fired pistols and there are so many great options. If I had to buy a 1911 in 10 i would likey get the springfield if going with a full factory gun. If i was to buy another 1911 as a specialized bear carry gun I would likely go the upgraded 45 to a 45 super or even a 460 rowland, with kits its pretty easy in a couple quality guns. Whatever you decide share pics

I don’t have one, but if I were to get a 1911ish 10mm, it would be a Dan Wesson. I am still kicking myself for not getting the Dan Wesson Specialist a local gun shop discounted deeply a few years ago.
