Went out exploring on Veteran's Day with my son and grandson and found this elk calf. Seems very late in the year for a new calf. Hopefully he beats the odds of getting through this winter.

You are seeing the spots of an elk calf. I've seen calves in the fall that were definitely small running with the herd, but never anything even close to as small as this calf.
