Looking to see what you guys would find most appealing from our sponsors who want to provide special offers to Hunt Talk members. Many of our sponsors appreciate the support they get from our members and viewers and we are working together to find ways to increase that.

Plenty of ideas that get considered. Rather than me guess, I am interested in what you guys think. Options being considered are:

  • Free accessories. Something like, buy a pair of Kenetrek boots and get a free pair of gaiters. Buy a Sitka Gear item over $200 and get a free pair of gloves. Something similar to those ideas.
  • Free shipping on any order over $100.
  • A discount of some amount, say 10% by using a certain coupon code.
  • Purchase of an item gives you an entry into a drawing for some other valuable item to be drawn from the pool of people who made a purchase.

If you have other ideas, I am open to considering them.

We are working with sponsors to see what works and what doesn't work. Want to keep it specific to our viewers and forum members. We want to show them that our viewers do appreciate the support provided and help these companies build a stronger relationship with our members.

I'm not the biggest fan of a matching gift. I may not need gaiters or gloves or prefer a different item.

I always like free shipping

I like discounts, but when it comes to clothing 10% is often ineffective as it can be had for cheaper. However, for hardware or other goods it can be enticing.

I love to gamble so the inclusion of a chance to win something bigger I always like.

What about something like "hunt talk bucks" or similar where when you purchase through the link on Hunt Talk you can accrue points/credit towards a future purchase or a Visa Gift card for simplicity.

What he said 100%!

I usually never win anything in raffles or drawings. So I would appreciate a discount and/or free shipping. When I buy clothing it usually is going to be rather spendy to get the best possible quality clothing. Ex. Sitka clothing, they have the stormfront jacket on sale for 30% off right now. Granted it isn't a camouflage color, but usually you wouldn't need it unless your are bow hunting. If the they had the timberline pants on sale right now for 30% off, I would be purchasing them. I think most people on the site believe in investing in the best equipment they can afford, so any discounts would be great.

Yep, not a fan of raffles I don't have a say in..so I'd rather see free shipping and product discounts. Though when items are paired with purchases "for free", it's nice when you get to pick out your item from a bunch available. Bottom line, customers being able to choose is fantastic in my opinion.

Discount.

I'm leery of 'sweepstakes' as you never seem to know the outcome or remember it will be conducted in 6months or whenever. Always seemed fraudulent to me that's why I'd take the upfront discount any day over the other options.

I agree 100% with this^^^

All of the above would be nice! I guess a discount that would be WORTH using would be about the best, with free shipping a close second.

I voted for discounts on purchased item, but as an OYO/DIY guy I'm trying to minimize money spent on gear, to maximize the hunting trips I can go on, so I would really prefer to have access to the sponsors' overstocked, 2nd quality, and closeout items. Free shipping is always good too.

For instance I went out and bought 2 boxes of Federal Premium ammo when you posted the $5/box rebate last fall.

This is the type deal I'm looking for:

Check the "About" page. Full disclosure, if you click on that link and buy boots, I get $20 in my account. :hump:

Most of the advertisers/sponsors are too pricey for my budget, in the first place, so I couldn't find an answer that truly reflects a valid opinion. I'm not going to pay $200.00 for a jacket, no matter what company makes it, and especially if it isn't in camo. And I don't own a single gun that will shoot Federal Ammo worth a damn, so I'm certainly not going to spend any money on their products.

Maybe find some sponsors with some realistic price points on quality gear for the average guy who is not blessed with a great income!!!!!!!!!

DIY is core to people that want a challenge and would pass on the frilly pamper materials, seeking solid gear at a fair price - I would suspect. I look for the best deal I can find on the quality products that are overpriced.

    Would be a nice addition.
  • Free shipping on any order over $100.
I typically search the web for the best price overall - price+ shipping charge.
  • A discount of some amount, say 10% by using a certain coupon code.
My pick of the choices. Something that makes a good 'bang for the buck'.
  • Purchase of an item gives you an entry into a drawing for some other valuable item to be drawn from the pool of people who made a purchase.
Nooo. Doesn't really grab me to buy.

IMO all of these meet that criteria.

Federal
Escort shotguns
Leupold
Black Gold
Ripcord
Tightspot
Howa
BowTech

While they are pricier than crap that you can pickup at WalMart I think that Mystery Ranch,Kenetrek and Sitka are all in line with comparable brands and are within the reach of the ''average guy'' if he makes it a priority.

Just my opinion YMMV.

I don't bowhunt, so none of those companies are interesting to me. Kenetrecks aren't available in my part of the country, and I don't order items such as boots over the internet due to fit issues. As I've said, none of my guns will shoot Federal ammo worth a damn, so nothing there for me, and I've never encountered a dealer down here that carries the Escort brand of guns, so I have absolutely no knowledge of their products other than what I've read in the Blue Book. I've never been impressed with Howa, and the Leupold scopes I own, I'd happily sell or trade for a Konus, any day of the week.

I was thinking of companies like RealTree, Mossy Oak, Ruger, Savage, Mossberg, Taurus, Winchester, Buck knives, BassPro Shops, and maybe LaCrosse, or Rocky. Companies that have a more national market with better prices than companies such as Sitka and Kenetreck

I do realize that the companies that are sponsoring the site, are the companies that sponsor Randy and the television series; but just from a disabled old rebel, they seem to be catered specifically to the regional Western market, more than the entire country. I realize that many of the viewers perceive the program to be a Western interest series, but that doesn't mean for those of us who can't hunt that style and region, we don't enjoy watching the programs. By the same token, I also see where some of you folks may not be interested in watching programs such as "Huntin' the World, Southern Style", so their sponsors may not be appealing to you; but at least they're more affordable to the majority of hunters across the country.

Besides, it was simply an observation as it pertained to the poll and how it affected my decision for voting, not an indictment of any one or any company.

Rhomas, I think you fall well outside the Core Demographic of the website, and that is a good thing because it adds some different perspective. Us "Westerners" are not as Stolid in our identity as such.

I know a few Auburn and Clemson grads who now call Wyoming, Utah, and Montana home, and have come to appreciate the "western way". Those Beanfield rifles come in handy on antelope, and performance fabrics work as well on muggy tree stands as a dry bow season at 10,000 feet.

We accept your contrarian approach so lighten up and look outside your comfort zone occasionally, both in products and politics, and perspective.

I like discounts. Discounts with free shipping if you spend $XX amount of dollars too. I'd like to see the Hunting GPS Maps company throw out a good discount for Hunt Talkers. I'd snag me a card if they did. Hint Hint.

I think it's asinine to offer a 15% discount on goods that come in only XS and XXXL...and purchases that qualify for drawings were invented by Jerry Jones and PT Barnum.:)
