We had a guy that worked with us that was like that. Someone put a snake skin in the top drawer of his box. I don't think anything could have kept that man inside the hanger when he opened that box.So I live and farm in southwest Iowa. I’ve been deathly afraid of snakes my whole life. Afraid as in, if I’m mowing grass on a riding lawnmower and see a shed skin, I pick my feet up high off the mower and leave a 5ft gap between myself and the snake skin.
One I’m in sitting in the shop on the toilet doing my business in an extreme state of focus. I look down and next to my right foot is a 4ft bull snake………I jump off the toilet, pants still around my ankles and go screaming out into the main shop like a little girl.
Another time, about a year later I’m working in the shop on our old 4020. I have my 72” snap on tool box next to me working on the tractor. I look down and coiled up under the tractor is another 3 foot bull snake! Again, the screaming like a little girl commences. I jump up on top of my tool box and begin screaming for my dad who was elsewhere in the shop. I’m continue screaming like a little girl from the top of my tool box until my dad removes the deadly bull snake from the shop. I think I was around 30 years old at the time……
My big sister was that way with snakes , and had bad eyes , so EVERYTHING looked like a snake to her.We had a guy that worked with us that was like that. Someone put a snake skin in the top drawer of his box. I don't think anything could have kept that man inside the hanger when he opened that box.
One woman I worked with was even more terrified of praying mantises. Even seeing a picture will make her cry and go to killing someone.

Is he divorced or DOA?A guy i know picked up a roadkill rattler in good condition. He coiled it up and put it in the freezer.
Wife got a good surprise.![]()
Thats a complicated answer. Is he divorced or DOA?
Either answer I feel he's deserved it ...Thats a complicated answer.
I once put a harmless snake in a coworkers lunch box.Either answer I feel he's deserved it ...
Years ago a friend was installing tile floors for new builds and got in a running feud with the plumbers that culminated in a live rattler being left in a bathtub of a new build with no electric . Randy heard it and thought it was the water hissing so went to turn it off , first thing in the morning , he was kind of a jerk , everyone thought it was funny but him ..
Haven't seen a snake around here for years. Too much farm ground being worked I guess. Too far from the timber for anything. Not much but rabbits and squirrels with the occasional possum or raccoon. Foxes and coyotes make a swing through during the night looking for food but are rare to actually see. Where in the state are you?
No snake encounters of the poison kind. I'm not convinced there really are any! When we were on one of our trips to visit @Bill Zent and his wife, we went riding our ATVs into the mountains on a snake hunt. Nothing. Never have spotted one. Maybe I'm just not lucky? Or am I VERY lucky?

This is what we see most along the fox river. A little north of Ottawa. Saw a couple small Massasouwa [spelling is a guess] rattlesnakes about 10 years ago working near the Illinois river. Was told the venom was only mild swelling and discomfort. Luckily none of us found out.Hey, neighbor! I'm about 10 minutes southwest of Peru.View attachment 407938This is what we see most along the fox river. A little north of Ottawa.
