Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

I have 2 huskys, 3 stihls, and a poulan. Never felt that any similarly sized saw was functionally different, other than the early 90s stihls vibrate less than the late 00s Huskys 🤷‍♂️.

On the conversation of chainsaws...

I have a Husqvarna that's been flawless for 10 years, along with one that belonged to my grandpa that has been going for 20+ years, and I wanted a bigger saw (372) for the occasional bigger tree and to be able to run a 28" bar on it, or up to a 32 if needed. Only needed it a few times in the past couple of years.

I didn't want to drop $1,200 on a chainsaw, so I tried one of those clones. It's called NeoTec, 872. It is an exact clone of the Husqvarna 372. Husky (and Stihl) let their patent run out on some older model saws, so there's a few companies that have started making these clones. Figured for $300 it is worth trying. Knock on wood it has been flawless. Needed a tune out of the box, but anyone can tune a carb. NeoTec also makes clones of some Stihl saws and other sized husky saws. I've had 2 of them and they're identical to the husky saws. I'm assuming the Stihl clones are the same. All parts are interchangeable also. So if something breaks, I can replace the part with the husky part.

If you have a problem with a stihl or a husky it’s either a maintenance issue, or like all 2 strokes the top end eventually needs to be rebuilt.
It's been into 3 shops at various times since the late 90s, no one has been able to fix it. But between my dad and I we've sure pissed away plenty of money trying to.

My parents have what must be a lead bodied water cooled Maculloch from the 80s. If you eat enough spinach, properly stretch, and lift with your legs you can cut a few rounds cut before your teeth are rattled loose.

My dad has a 60s Homelite Super XL like that. My grandpa used to say that it would get so hot after cutting a cord that it would boil the gas.

I never tested that claim as I was over using it after cutting 3 or 4 rounds.

I think there’s a lot of optimism here on about people actually buying firewood and Christmas tree permits. A lot of firewood and a large percentage of Christmas trees are poached in my area.

This dumb idea is starting to lose its luster.

Put that in the Stuff that is Obvious category. Also in that category, Americas are upset that their Health Insurance just went up 10%, and Medicare enrollee mad that they got charged for the time spent telling Doctor about grandson's violin recital.

I cant think of much thats been made cheaper by means of subsidy, especially once you venture outside of a specific product/technology. Education and medicine are the strongest examples for that in my mind.

Why would subsidizing health insurance (way beyond aca intent btw) make it more affordable?
