Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

I wish not being able to get a firewood permit was the biggest problem, presently.

You could beg for a pardon if by chance you got pinched. It works sometimes.

The longer it goes, the more impact it has. Farmers will be needing loans for funding next year's planting (I just assume the people that run that program will be brought back, red states and such). The SBA loan program isn't functioning, so those businesses are trying to stay afloat other ways. Stop paying air traffic controllers and we will see social media explode on people impacted by flight delays.
Ground delays everywhere already

I find it odd all of them aren't online in 2025.
Odd, right? Harvesting fire wood is the literal tip of the iceberg. Interestingly, the Inflation Reduction Act had $1B allocated to Federal permitting reform and speeding up environmental review. But the IRA was "wasteful spending!!!", so after election Trump signed an executive order called "Updating Permitting Technology for the 21st Century" that did basically the same thing as the IRA was allocating money to, just so he could take credit for it I presume. Welcome to politics. If you can't take credit for the good thing, it's bad. One of the positives from DOGE may be the automation of a lot of stuff that the two sides would fight over endlessly for years. It would be nice to buy a firewood harvest or Christmas tree permit online and just go do your thing. I remain resolute in saying any inefficiency in government is the monster we created. It doesn't have to be this way.
