Caribou Gear Tarp

Odocoileus hemionus

I shot a buck in NE Montana about 8 years ago that had tumors like that all over it's face.

I took him by the fish and game office and they looked at it and said it was warts or something like that.

I ate him. So far so good.

Gross, you guys can have the tumor bucks. From the looks of the poor guy, I'd say he's likely to throw himself off a cliff before hunting season anyway.

I hope you name the ones on your "hit list". But make sure the names have a theme; like Mariner's players or actors that have starred with Kevin Bacon.

Day 1:
I headed up the draw that I had previously seen King Felix in...

Day 2:
Not able to find King Felix I went west and tried to find John Lithgow...

With a little editing you can make this ad your own.

I've been able to make a few trips into the mountains to set up trail cameras, but haven't been seeing much for deer activity up high with this heat. I suspect my trail cameras will confirm they've gone nocturnal for the most part. I did bump this guy on a water hole, but wasn't able to get much for pictures of him. It's hard to tell from this picture, but he's an ancient old roman nosed bugger with tons of mass and huge eye guards. I'm hoping I'm able to be able to keep tabs on him this summer and what he grows into.

I've also spent a small amount of time checking out some lower elevation land that I have access to, and there has been no shortage of bucks down there to look at.

I like that buck in the field! You gotta hunt big bucks where they live. Fields or otherwise. Enjoy your hunt

I'd hunt the mountain buck. Don't worry about the lack of activity on the hill. Early yet. mtmuley

Set lofty big buck goals- pivot class buck or not.

Here's a pretty cool looking mountain buck I bumped into last week. The deer in the mountains are not feeding in the open at all, so getting pictures has been challenging. I am seeing a ton of bucks up high though-

man......those last two bucks could be brothers......you have any more pics of them?

Are you looking to get a velvet buck with archery tackle, or are you waiting for a winter cape?

Its easy to get a little spoiled seeing some of the big bucks in pictures on this forum, but my heart would come out of my chest if i saw one of those on a hunt. Those are two incredible bucks right there.

Ide choose the one with the the three extras on the right side. Deeper forks, long main beams, that extra stuff, and the width... what more could you ask for?

Not any better than these. I was mainly concentrating on the deep forked buck and didn't get as good of pictures of the wide guy as I'd have liked.

I'm going to miss the first two weeks of the season, so it won't be a velvet buck for me.

Great pictures. It must be a darned good reason to not be out there on opening day with a bow in hand.

I spent this weekend in the mountains, and between monsoons and hailstorms I was able to locate quite a few bucks. I did see one that is similar in size to the field bucks, but I wasn't able to get any pictures of it before it dropped off the ridgeline.

The best part of scouting for me is tailgate cup noodles and coffee.

I've also had some trail cameras set up for a couple weeks.I learned the hard way to not trust cheap trail cameras.

One of the three I had set out did function to some extent, and I got pictures of a couple small bucks. This guy was the biggest. I've decided it's much easier to just find bucks and take pictures of them than to expect them to walk in front of a box strapped to a tree.
