I left the house about 4 o'clock on Friday to look for some green in a local creek bottom. It is still brown most places here but the area I headed to gets a ton of snow and rain so I was hopeful the green was a little more intense than the other places I have hunted this year. I still hunted going from green spot to green spot because it was too thick to do much glassing. The last place I looked I found this guy. I didn't measure him but he was probably about five feet. After I got him lined up in the scope he smelled me and bolted. I shot him on the run from about 125 yards with my 30-06 and he dropped.

Hopefully the first of many for Hunt Talkers this spring! Beauty.

We saw one last spring same color, same size up off Lake Kooc.'s shoreline - unfortunately, it was doing Mach 9 in front of the truck and across a logging road surrounded by 15' tall regrowth.

Nice job. I'd be thrilled with running into one of that color this year. Congratulations!
