Japan, Before and After

In light of the devastation, I am willing to open my home for two to four, 20 something year old Japanese women. Please advise on how to sell idea to wife. Thanks.

I am a giver.

Wow....

The devastation is unreal.... it will be very interesting to hear the final numbers of lives lost, houses lost, boats lost, $$ lost.... not to mention lets hope they get this nuclear situation under control asap....

What will be interesting is to see how they proceed with recovery...will they build in those areas again? It is PLAIN and simple that the ocean floodplain will not sustain over the long run... but at the same time, it could be 20,000 years before they see something like that again? Or it could be 6 months....

Scary to think that is possible all over the west coast from BC to Mexico.....

Can't imagine the horror of dealing with finding sustenance and shelter for your children in that mess...not to mention the radiation issues.

Dink.. Always looking out for the other guy.... or gal..... or himself ;)

If this was Facebook I'd "LIKE" ;)

Be carefull, you might end up like Gilbert Gottfried :hump:

If ever there was a country that could come out of something like this, Japan would be the one, just due to their work ethic. Unfortunately if dad was still around he may have something else to say, but he wouldn't (WWII) because he was just that kind of person, although I know in the back of his mind??

The amazing part to me is how they are dealing with it in such a consistent demeanor. Or at least that is how it is being shown in the news reports.

I look at any small event in the US, and the chaos, looting, crime, and lack of self-sustenance that always occurs. Imagine if a city of 1 million people was hammered in this country, the way it was in Japan. Do you think we would see such a state of calm and resolve, or would it be more chaos and crime?

Good on them for handling it as well as they are. Hard to imagine the feelings that would come from watching that happen to your home, your city, your family and neighbors.

Excellent point and unfortunately I think your right.

My wife and I were talking about that today. We haven't seen any video of people pointing fingers at the government for not doing enough or sitting in their own self-pity. They appear determined to get their lives back in order and do it own their own if need be.

I had a buddy who spent two years over there after school. I now see why he thought about staying over there for good.

In reference to the demeanor of the people and how they handle themselves, well when you raise a society that expects everything set up for them by the Government what can you expect. A big Thumbs up to the people of Japan and I wish them the best. Seen it first hand! John

I had the "it's interesting to see how the Japanese society seems to handle this" conversation yesterday , too. And I can find humor in about most anything....I have to. But the callousness some of the idiots on here display about something like this is pathetic. The cynicism makes mine look pale. And then bring the political slant into the conversation... real classy. I think I'll stick to sportsmens issues, where I can be productive, and leave this stuff to (some) folks with too much precious wasted time on their hands. It's too bad you morons that have time to make light of this situation can't use that time to do something productive....or figure out how to keep your pieholes closed.

I feel as though since I posted this thread to tell those who would confuse Dink's statment as though he is a thoughtless cad. He is a very caring and generous person and a Damn fine Republican! Now lay off the Dinkmaster! John

Its ok Draftstud my wife said no anyway. I even promised to make them quiet when they were having their pillow fights. No go.

Here is how I would see this going down right now if the members of Hunttalk were in Japan. A few of the more emotional ones as documented above, would be running around crying and being drama queens. What are we going to do? What are we going to do? Help us, help us!!

Meanwhile some of the callous men called out above would be making a few wisecracks then getting shovels out and starting to clean up and rebuild. It is good to have both men and drama queens in the world. The women need the company.
