Israel attacks Iran’s nuclear facilities

Does anyone else now just seeing this as a free move to destroy three Iran Nuke facilities with no consequences? Perhaps the move was indeed extremely calculated and the right one?
Maybe. I would like to hope. But a little voice inside my head says that was too easy. I don’t think anyone should trust Iran when they are like “yeah sorry about the whole Death to Israel, Death to America we have used for the last 40yrs. It was just a marketing campaign to sell coffee cups and t-shirts. Our bad.”

Grrrrrrrrrrrr…..everyone is so right. This has been an entertaining brain drain thread. A site full of poly sci majors. Thanks for the insight.

Heard multiple experienced folks say the same thing...what we had under other POTUS was an agreement that had monitoring and real economic sanctions. This cease fire has no monitoring or any agreement on nukes, it's widely believed Iran moved nuke building materials before Israel started in....so at best it's just a short term delay. Nothing changed regarding the nuke threat Iran poses to the world, nothing changes (it might actually increase, some say) regarding Irans support of terrorism.

The only Victory that could be present is if Irans radical leaders are tossed out by the people of Iran. Regarding that keep in mind it has been widely reported that they had the location and could have targeted Irans leader, but Trump wouldn't support that.

Only time will prove if anything was really gained regarding the two major threats nukes and terrorism. It is clear their military has been gutted so Israel is safer from attacks for now.

This seems like a positive development. Let’s hope the ceasefire goes through and the peace holds. My guess is the Iranian regime is going to be doing all they can to ensure they don’t lose their grip on power within the country. This would be an amazing time for the Iranian people to exercise collective will and implement that change internally.
It didn't last long😢

I really do feel like if everyone had some smoked bacon theyd get along better.
I always think to myself that if some of these people just fist fought in a parking lot, they'd be drinking a beer with each other after it was done.
Almost like how high school fights use to go.

I DONT KNOW WHY I DONT LIKE YOU SO LETS FIGHT.
*FIGHTS*
Best friends after.

Those knuckleheads have been killing each other since the beginning of time. Their hate runs deeper than most people will ever realize.

Until one of them completely eliminates the other one, there will be unrest in the region. I wish they would all just line up like the old guard British, in the open desert, at 50 paces, wearing these tee-shirts and settle it once and for all.

"something something, orange man is the devil because blah blah blah"

Regardless of what the haters say, it was a calculated, thought out move by Trump & his military advisors. What an incredible display of precision and military power. Iran was probably shaking in their sandals after that.

There's some pretty informative clips talking about the precision needed to execute such an attack.

@Rainer @Bonasababy @elkduds & @NR_Hunter will have to have a Trump hating contest to see who the biggest hater really is.

One thing I find funny is that everyone cheering for regime change seems to have a pretty low opinion of the entire population of Iran. So what's the plan? If we topple one dictator in sea of wannabe dictators, how do we suddenly wind up with a stable government that likes us?

I would've rather the US stayed out of this. It seems the bombing was pretty darn successful and I'm grateful for that; it seems like it was a very professionally executed operation. The ceasefire lasted, what, like 2 hours? So I think it's a little early for optimism, but if a lasting stability develops in the area I will gladly give Trump the credit he's due.

But just so it's documented, here's my prediction - I hope I'm wrong. By all accounts, the enriched uranium had been moved and hasn't yet been destroyed. I predict the US and Israel work together to take out the Ayatollah and topple the regime. But the only way to prevent an even worse terrorist regime is long-term occupation. Plus there's a bunch of enriched uranium out there that we don't want to fall into the wrong hands. So that means US boots on the ground in the Middle East for decades to come, around and around we go.

TLDR, buy defense contractor stocks.

At least trumps telling them BOTH to knock it off.
Foreign policy conducted via social media isn’t really foreign policy. It’s all virtue signally to the base. And it seems to work. The reality is I don’t think anyone is willing to take the next necessary step toward a conclusion- boots on the ground.

I too hope you're wrong. I don't know how it will play out, exactly, if at all.

I can't imagine that Iran is at a place to make lasting peace with either Israel, or us. I'd love to be wrong about that.

This is not over. Iran now fully understands that the only way to survive is to have a nuke like North Korea and Pakistan or you end up like Libya or Syria. Even if the Iranians did want to return to diplomacy the Israelis won't let that happen.

And the one--albeit imperfect--lever we had to keep track of their nuke progress was ended by Trump--and not reinstated as part of his "negotiated truce".

Trump Lashes Out at Israel and Iran as Fragile Truce Is Tested

President Trump suggested that both Israel and Iran had continued fighting despite a cease-fire that both had agreed to hours earlier. He warned Israel that further attacks would be a “major violation.”
