Maybe. I would like to hope. But a little voice inside my head says that was too easy. I don’t think anyone should trust Iran when they are like “yeah sorry about the whole Death to Israel, Death to America we have used for the last 40yrs. It was just a marketing campaign to sell coffee cups and t-shirts. Our bad.”Does anyone else now just seeing this as a free move to destroy three Iran Nuke facilities with no consequences? Perhaps the move was indeed extremely calculated and the right one?
Let’s hope the ceasefire goes through and the peace holds.
It didn't last longThis seems like a positive development. Let’s hope the ceasefire goes through and the peace holds. My guess is the Iranian regime is going to be doing all they can to ensure they don’t lose their grip on power within the country. This would be an amazing time for the Iranian people to exercise collective will and implement that change internally.
I always think to myself that if some of these people just fist fought in a parking lot, they'd be drinking a beer with each other after it was done.I really do feel like if everyone had some smoked bacon theyd get along better.
I've been learning that to strengthen democracy it must be broken down first.Grrrrrrrrrrrr…..everyone is so right. This has been an entertaining brain drain thread. A site full of poly sci majors. Thanks for the insight.

At least trumps telling them BOTH to knock it off.It didn't last long![]()

Foreign policy conducted via social media isn’t really foreign policy. It’s all virtue signally to the base. And it seems to work. The reality is I don’t think anyone is willing to take the next necessary step toward a conclusion- boots on the ground. At least trumps telling them BOTH to knock it off.
One thing I find funny is that everyone cheering for regime change seems to have a pretty low opinion of the entire population of Iran. So what's the plan? If we topple one dictator in sea of wannabe dictators, how do we suddenly wind up with a stable government that likes us?
I would've rather the US stayed out of this. It seems the bombing was pretty darn successful and I'm grateful for that; it seems like it was a very professionally executed operation. The ceasefire lasted, what, like 2 hours? So I think it's a little early for optimism, but if a lasting stability develops in the area I will gladly give Trump the credit he's due.
But just so it's documented, here's my prediction - I hope I'm wrong. By all accounts, the enriched uranium had been moved and hasn't yet been destroyed. I predict the US and Israel work together to take out the Ayatollah and topple the regime. But the only way to prevent an even worse terrorist regime is long-term occupation. Plus there's a bunch of enriched uranium out there that we don't want to fall into the wrong hands. So that means US boots on the ground in the Middle East for decades to come, around and around we go.
TLDR, buy defense contractor stocks.

And the one--albeit imperfect--lever we had to keep track of their nuke progress was ended by Trump--and not reinstated as part of his "negotiated truce".This is not over. Iran now fully understands that the only way to survive is to have a nuke like North Korea and Pakistan or you end up like Libya or Syria. Even if the Iranians did want to return to diplomacy the Israelis won't let that happen.
