If a guy wanted to retire in Wyoming what towns should he look at?

We should ask you, what do you want in town or near? People, no people, lots people. Traffic, shopping, food...

Especially in WY that can make a huge difference

I’d say it depends. Wyoming retirement taxation is currently very favorable to those who have a lot to shield from taxation and a short time till their check out date. On the other hand, you got Florida or Arizona which tax more, though you’ll almost always have some sun. Retirees have gone to those two states for so long now that entire cities have come up out of a planned retirement community.

Now if you two plan on having considerable assets to shield from taxation, but you could realistically see decades of retirement, there’s the Caribbean. Some of those island countries offer no personal income tax and no wealth tax. They have citizenship through investment programs. Upfront expense, sure, but at least you’re not stuck spending 30 years where it’s cold as tits eight months of the year telling yourselves it was a good idea.

Gotta be near an ER when that hip shatters! And it seems Denver is the nearest place to fix all that stuff ultimately.

I don't need to be around a lot of people. I would like to have enough room to have a 20x30 or 30x40 garage to mess around in. My wife loves to fish and we like the creek river fishing the best. We might get a boat though when we retire. I enjoy Antelope hunting the most for big game. And would like to take a cow elk for the freezer. My wife enjoys turkey hunting and small game hunting. I will say though she really wants to go bear hunting and would like to be able to go prairie dog hunting. I mainly trap raccoons here and just started beaver trapping which is a blast. My son does a little predator trapping and I could get into that if we moved out there.

I drive 35 min now to any kind of main shopping Home Depot WalMart etc. I am about 10 min from our local grocery store and a Dollar General which is where we do a lot of our shopping. Mainly after putting everything into our kids we are wanting to get out and enjoy time together doing outdoor stuff we love. I will be 49 when I can retire from my job but if I stay 35 years I'll be 54 so hopefully I could have at least a decade to do what we want. So this is a 5-8 years away but figured we could come out and do some visits a week at a time.

I've spent time in Casper, Rawlins, and Gillette. Gillette has 35,000 people and every store/eatery my town has and we're at 110,000. I'd move there in a NY Minute if the wife would agree.

Ten Sleep, isn't that where the game warden who is a chitty shot and keeps wrecking company pickups works?

This isn't the flex you think it is. It all comes off of the same Sysco truck.

So, Casper. They get the Sysco truck before Gillette.
