DEI for billionaires

From a bugetary perspective, I would guess that raffle would be more consistent in funding year over year, but affles are far more challenging logistically based on varying state rules and ticket sales. Auctions could see boom and bust years if the animals don't get pimped out the right way.
I concur, but can’t that same thing be said on a raffles if there are no constraints on the amount of raffle tickets sold to one person? Logically, if big animals are shown to clients (pending when the raffle closes), couldn’t they then push those clients to buy X amount of tickets to up their chances?

I really see no end to the “DEI” MtGomer says to those of the expendable income. I personally feel raffle tickets should be sold prior to a good or bad weather year. Cut off March.

The idea is to raise money, correct? If Arizona sold the same amount of tickets and Mr Gallo was not involved, everyone would be happy? Your odds of winning would have still be the same.

In my opinion the raffle outcome is just more indicative of the growing wealth gap in this country. I dont know how to fix that…
Funny guy thinking everyone would be happy.

Montana publishes the super tag quantities - people could do the same thing and have. The super tag qtys used to not be published but are now - i wonder how many are "buying a few" or buying several thousand to do it?

Some quick math shows a person would have to invest around 285k to get 50/50 odds on it or 2.9 million to get 90/10 odds.

I dont care if they do - what could be funnier than someone spending a million dollars on sheep chances and losing to a broke resident driving a shit box who spent 5 bucks - it can still happen. Or two guys with f it money trying the same strategy to buy all the tickets the last day the sales are open?

I dont entirely agree that its an auction with more steps, i think its a gamble and some people show up with a lot of chips. Disappointing to see it raised less, though.

Nevada Has an interesting way of doing it.

We have the PIW tag which is an extra draw during the main drawing. It allows a tag holder to hunt any unit in the state during any season using the specific season weapon for that hunt.

Then we have the Heritage (Governor's, or auction tag) that is basically the summer opener July 1st.

Then they added the Dream tag which is the PIW tags with 1 taken from the quota and its raffle tickets, buy as many as you want.

Then we have the Silver State tag. $25 app fee. 1 app per person. Handled during regular draw period.

The SS and PIW really allow the "common man" to have a chance at a great tag. Single shot, 1 chance per person.

The dream, I know a local guy who drew one years ago, so that was cool. But a guy could really increase his odds with $$$$$.

The Heritage. Well, I'm out.

A friend of mine here in Idaho drew the silver state elk tag this year. Shot an awesome bull two weeks ago!

Sure would seem like western bighorn numbers should be skyrocketing with all the auction tag money that is out there. Seems like the only place sheep numbers are really increasing is in rich guys trophy rooms
I’m convinced if you look at a sheep long enough it will die. Ya the numbers may be dropping but how bad do you think it would be if that effort also wasn’t being put out. Our sheep aren’t very far from being like a stupid dog breed that only exist because people cared enough to make sure they didn’t die

Is the argument that spendy less would do more or that no amount of money is going to make a difference so why indulge the rich?

I don’t claim to know what sheep numbers would be like without auction tag money. It does raise more questions that kuiu has pulled off funding a number of translocations and collaring projects without a sheep having to die

It's more of a weight against the onslaught of development, range conversion & increase in things like 4H hobby flocks, as well as domestic sheep production. I'd hate to think where sheep populations would be without those funds, personally.

It would be interesting to see if that funding was stand alone, or matching with other dollars (gov tags, etc). Most of these projects are not sole-source funded.

Everybody hates transferable tags - until there's a chance they can get one for $20. Lol.
