Wyoming Pronghorn

Here's the best digiscoping pictures I got of bucks I passed on. For every one of these I have ten more blurry ones-

Target rich environment Randy...box of chocolates confusing.

...congrats on picking a good one.

I passed on a lot of bucks that'd score higher than this one, but I just couldn't pull the trigger until I absolutely had to. I kept holding on hope that the next draw would hold "The One". "The One" became a running joke, but I think I found it a lot funnier than my wife did. Every buck sighting would end with something along the lines of "he's a giant, but not "The One"".

Field judging these things is incredibly difficult. After seeing my buck on the ground though, I don't know if I saw an 80"er or not on this hunt. Tons and tons of mature bucks but never that no doubter.

Still an unbelievable hunt, and I'm glad I held off on applying until I could hunt one of these glory units once. Now that I have, I don't think I'll wait again and will probably burn my points every couple years. The access and amount of pronghorn was amazing, but I don't think there's that much better trophy potential in these hard to draw areas.

Just about the most fun a guy could expect in a week of road hunting.

Had a good time on my last day there watching this A-hole fly around and buzz every herd of pronghorn in the area. I assume he was scouting for a tagholder. Multiple times he flew into herds that I was obviously checking out, and after a few hours of him being in the air all the pronghorn in the area were on edge and on the run. I've never had a run in with a chute plane before, but put me firmly in the against camp if this is standard operating procedure for them.

Congrats on the lope, Randy. You certainly put in more time than 95% of the guys out there.

Man, what a great hunt, Randy. Great thread made for some enjoyable reading as well. Great old roman-nosed buck you shot. Cool goat and I'll be lucky to find something close to that size on my goat rope in NW Colorado this weekend.
