WIlks Brothers political leanings

Thanks for the link. In the words of Doc Holliday, "Now I really hate him."

The bastard they are giving money to has publicly announced his intent to sell off public lands and believes Cliven Bundy is a hero.

Unfortunately, the amount of money a campaign acquires has little to do with the validity and popularity of that campaign's policy positions. Rather, the source and amount of campaign donations is indicitive of who owns said politician. More so, it is unfortunate that money is the biggest indicator of success when predicting the winner of competing campaigns.

^^^ This. If you are a hunter, concerned about how politics is going to deal us a bad hand, go read the Citizens United case. It will give some clarity to what lies ahead. The article cited in the OP is a classic example of what is now allowed.

Anyone who thinks these politicians are not influenced by multi-million dollar donations has a lot more faith in the system than I do. Wonder why a politicians holds the positions he/she does? Follow these kind of donations, on both sides of the aisle, and you will likely find your answer.

Well said Fin, nothing to add. Yet another choice eliminated. Rand Paul is another of the "Sell Public Lands" gang. They're all crooks, on both sides of the aisle. Democrats want your guns, and the Republicans want to take away your places to use them.

And union donations to Democrats (with laundered taxpayer money) is ok in return for kickbacks and inflated government contacts? This is not just a republican issue. It just strikes home on this forum because of public land consequences.

Emrah

You guy's think Cruz has a snowballs chance in hell of getting elected President? Sounds like the Wilkes bros flushed 15 million down the toilet, to me.

In the words of Doc Holliday, "Now I really hate him."

So who do you like, Nameless? Bernie Sanders?

There are plenty of fed up people on the national level listening to what Cruz and Trump are trumpeting on a myriad of issues.

..thank you emrah

If you want to discuss the involvement of big money in politics, then yes, each side engages in raising ridiculous amounts of funding to run races. Some legislative races in Montana are now topping $30 - $50K to keep them competitive. That's BS. This presidential election will set more records for billions of dollars spent as well.

Regarding Unions, the big difference is that unions side with workers in fighting for better pay, better benefits and better working conditions instead of eliminating public land, cratering conservation programs and regulations designed to maintain clean air and water and eliminating protections for the middle class. So, I guess I'd rather have unions in the fight than out of it.

As for the individual donations of the Wilks, they've been throwing money around in MT for the last few cycles, all to one party, and the vast majority towards candidates who support the transfer of public lands and eliminating our access programs.

The new mantra that money is speech is brought to us by one group of political activists who turn around and scream bloody murder by those who apply the rules to their own actions. America's political scene is pathetic at this point, with a race to the bottom in our search for the lowest common denominator. While both sides may engage in some of that, there's really only one side who actively fights for it to be broadened. That's the side that the Wilks' have joined up with.

The Republicans are screwed in this election, As of now, there is no viable candidate.

Do not like Trump. He is the frontrunner. Obnoxious man. Could not vote for him.

:Like Jeb Bush, but has all the Bush garbage.

Obama came out of no where. Maybe, I hope. there will be a viable Republican candidate.

Hilary looks like a lock. Admire the lady and totally hate her politics!

In case you missed it.

I can't get the notion out of my head that Trump is Perot redux.

Gotta love the noble union dissertation Ben....they're only a little stained huh?

I know this off topic, but that has to be sarcasm, no? That hag is a criminal on many levels, between covering for her rapist husband, insider trading, embezzlement, and the list could go on.

I'll share a sad bit of info fellas, due to voter fraud and other dirty tricks, the upcoming election will be anything but legitimate.

I still view Rand Paul as better than anything the communist party has to offfer.

Trumps a circus act.....he's going nowhere.

The Dems threw Hilary under the bus last time.......they will do it again this time.

My money (or beer) is on Walker.

Sounds like an endorsement for socialist Bernie Sanders, or self funded Donald, Fin.

I'm not sure who said this is only a Republican issue. I know I didn't.

They very well may have wasted their money. But don't underestimate the power of money in elections. It is one of the more powerful indicators of who wins. The prediction markets have the GOP frontrunners as Rubio, Walker, Bush, Cruz, or Paul. Possibly Carson. To say with certainty about any of them at this point in the game raises the B.S. flag sky high.

Just because I think one candidate is a fool it does not follow that I "like" any other candidate. Can't I think they're all morons? At least to a certain degree? As I have my whole life, I'll engage in the civic exercise of harm-reduction and I'll vote in Nov of 2016. What happens between now and then is nothing but posturing and whoring around for funds - on both sides of the isle.

You're just begging for someone to take the Bernie bait aren't you.

Yes it goes both ways, R and D. But, this is a forum about hunting and there is great relevance to the original post. Just because someone doesn't like the Wilks, CU, Cruz or Paul doesn't mean they are a raging liberal or not going to vote R under any circumstance.
