Post your biggest fish ever caught in fresh water.

Here is mine: lake sturgeon from the Rainy river on the Minnesota/Canada border.
This fish was 57 inches long.

That's ok! I never said they had to bite the hook. :)

Check out how similar the tail fins are on the paddle fish and the sturgeon. They both kinda look like sharks without any teeth.

Flathead Lake 2006. It has a permanent spot on my wall.

The chinook in my left hand is the biggest I've weighed....43 pounds.

Our upper size limit on white sturgeon is 60" and I've caught a few that were too big. No pictures though.

Not much of a fisherman although I certainly try. More into salt water but seldom get there. Lake Ontario brown trout. I think I should get an award for smallest big fish!

Now here's a big PA fish posted in memory of a fellow LEO killed in the line of duty.

Like mtmiller, I'm a cheater. I work for the USFWS and have done spawning with some 50 lb pallid sturgeon and 100 lb paddlefish.

Flathead for me!

Electrofishing is an inefficient practice for sampling paddlefish. A floating trammel net is the preferred gear type.

Yes, Big28, the Columbia. Area below Bonneville is closed now to protect these fish. Sea lions, however, are free to take as many as they want. Hmmm.
