What are your 2026 Outdoor Plans

Pretty quite year here. I need that after the grandson and I drew 6 tags this year and have been on overload.
Planning on a wilderness Colorado elk hunt at high elevation, I will apply for NM probably and hope for some love, and as always try to burn my MT goat and sheep points.

I’d like to:

MT Spring Turkey
Ft Peck walleye/northern fishing

3x summer backpacking trips
Maybe one bigger trip to the Bob/Chinese Wall or something.

MT Archery Elk
MT Antelope (fingers crossed)
MT Rifle Deer

5x upland bird hunts in the fall.

Maybe get a kayak to fish some of the local rivers or accessible mountain lakes.

This is tough in someways, I’m still working and living in Arizona the Draw kinda rules for resident to hunt and boy that can be tough on planning. Almost everything is a draw but for me, my love of calling either an elk or a turkey is the ultimate hunt. So turkey hunting in numerous states from the 1st of April till first week of May fills my schedule with some states permitting multiple birds per season. If no elk tag, I revert to Arizona archery OTC deer hunts that would get me like 71 days combine opportunity both early and late season. And if I can, I always try to hunt my home State NY deer in November if I can, where you just go buy a license.

Maybe in the future I’ll hunt elk out of State but it’s not looking good with most States moving away from OTC elk and along with my age and the number of points you need.

I am investigating catching fish in the river near me as the ice begins to melt and get washed away. I have heard that this time of year can be very good and the spot I like to go has a lot of other fisherman in the spring and summer. I am hopeful there will be less people in my spot early in the spring.

Found a way to get an Alaska Airline flight direct to Anchorage from Los Angeles, so that means I have more confidence in taking my lab with me.
After arriving in Anchorage I take an Alaska Airlines flight out to Adak.
In the past I always booked it all together as one booking and it always had stops in Seattle or Portland and that was great for just me. However, wanting to take my dog I won't put her through long stopovers. So making 2 separate bookings I get a direct flight to Anchorage.
Really looking forward to watching my dog retrieve Alaskan birds.

Nothing overly crazy for me this year. Went to Alaska last year.

I would like to hunt a new area this year for elk and mule deer. Never hunted it before or anywhere near there and honestly don't have high hopes, but its been on my mind for several years now and I've got to try it out so I can get it checked off my list. LOL
