Step 1: Forget to buy your kid's deer tag in advance, and call around in a panic until you find a license vendor open on a Sunday night.

Step 2: Pull said kid out of school.

Step 3: Hike and glass until you find a buck napping.

Step 4: Sneak on said buck.

Step 5: Let your kid dry fire a few times to get ride of the yips.

Step 6: Load gun.

Step 7: Watch your kid make a one shot kill on napping buck.

Step 8: Take pictures according to Jose's advice.

Step 9: Relish the perma grin on the way home.

The end

You just had to mention the MT beer didn't you.:p

Congrats to both of you on the hunt!

I am in a crisis as I'm down to two cans.

As an aside, this is the second whitetail in three years out of a fringe part of the Palouse that is a long ways from what most folks think of as whitetail habitat.

Some of my most memorable hunts start out not looking so good. Now, when things seem to start falling apart before they start, I get a little excited!

Congratulations to the "said kid"! I love hearing stories like this!!

Those perma grins seem to be contagious as now I have one sitting at my desk in Kansas. Congratulations on the father/kid times.

Here ya go.
