Yeah, im thinking with current fuel prices I will stick with my routine.
Kinda stubborn, not ready to throw in the towel. Get your own meat, get your own wood type attitude.

We have an abundance of ash thanks to the emarald ash borer. Used to have red elm, it was my favorite to burn, but like the ash is soon to be, it’s gone. Burn a ton of mulberry as well. It’s hard work splitting and takes forever to dry, but once dry, it burns good. My favorite of all to cut, split, and burn is honey locust. Thorns are a bitch but it burns hot, long, and clean

I grew up in New England. We burned cherry, maple, and ash. Rock maple was absolutely wretched to split. Ash was the breather. I was having flashbacks from 45 years ago, your wood looked familiar.

I dislike punky wood. I stick with lodgepole and inspect the integrity before I load it.

Maybe not the same btu, but its easier to work with across the board.
