Propoganda or real? Your thoughts??

I mean Really ??? Are they trying to stastically impress me that Washington DC has a lower firearm Murder rate than, oh Hell, Alabama....Montana....?

I have an MBA, and as a huge part of the educational process, one of the 1st things we were taught is that it is very, very easy to shew your numbers in order to validate your predetemined outcome. It's called stastical bias.

The city counsel of Greenville, NC ( my college town) was A$$ slapped during a re-zoning public meeting for presenting 'Stastical' evidence that the county residents were overwhelming in favor of extending the city boundries. Only problem was, their pollers were extremely selective as to whom they polled. Like the tax paying property owners, major buisness/industry owners, bank investors.....they only polled on this side of the Hwy, Not the one with higher tax value, polling only renters, skipping entire neighborhoods.

Of course they got the numbers thay wanted......and they each and everyone were taken to task for it, and replaced in short order,,

Wait... so your saying suicides equal to these stats (regardless their agenda driven title) CA, IL, etc are 'safer' overall?
edit:
Not being sarcastic - Just a bit stunned that suicide by a firearm and firearm violence per capita present that map as accurate...(?)

Bloomies crew make it sound as if gun laws are the only factor which affects gun deaths. What happened to economy, education, and a variety of other factors which could affect the outcome? They spin it the way they want it to come out and feed it to the gullible press and citizens who read and believe their tripe.

tarheel- I agree...it doesn't take a lot of other data as a factor. Just as the advertisement that has been going around the internet that parts of Texas have the highest gun ownership and lowest crime rate...Funny I haven't heard a lot of people complain about that one though. All of this is agenda driven (on both sides) and probably the reason I don't believe any of it.

Look at the sources, but really just apply common sense when you see Illinois is on the low side but we hear weekly about the blood baths taking place in Chicago. What was the term? "Fuzzy math" I believe applies here.

I think Mark Twain said it best:

"There are lies, damn lies, and statistics"

Without seeing his figures and having his methodology explained, I will not believe anything that Bloomberg says. He could say the sky is blue, and I would still check to make sure.

Propaganda.... chart is reinforcement for people whose minds are already made up.

The Knowledge Movement my eye...more like 'Bowel'.....a use'fool' tool for liberal idiocy.

Classic; just found this in the actual report...

Conclusions and Relevance :A higher number of firearm laws in a state are associated with a lower rate of firearm fatalities in the state, overall and for suicides and homicides individually. As our study could not determine cause-and-effect relationships, further studies are necessary to define the nature of this association.

But for some this is all they need to launch into this study being the one and only needed authority.

Hopefully there are reasonable people on the other side of the debate. Unfortunately being passionate about the subject makes people feel like wolves when they are really just becoming sheep.

There's over 500 murders a year in Chicago where guns are essentially illegal. That stat alone is enough for me to call this "study" BS.

I mean how many people get shot in Wyoming every year, one or two?
