Hey guys,

This isn't the largest racked deer I've ever shot, but I'm particularly proud, since I shot him on public land within an hour of the twin cities. I was set up in my stand at 5:45 A.M. An hour and 45 minutes prior to season. I had 5 deer come through about 15 minutes after that, but you couldn't even tell what they were because it was so dark. 10 1/2 hours of sitting in the tree stand later I heard something a few hundred yards to the east. I saw antlers and I knew I was going to take it (you don't get picky on public land around here:) )! I lined up on the only opening I had a squeezed off the shot once the shoulder was there. The rest is history. This was far and away biggest bodied deer I ever shot (best setimates are 200-220# and I got to drag him for almost a mile through a huge grass swamp and oak forest.Sorry the pictures are crap. All I had was my phone and I was alone. When I got home my first thought was to get it hung up, skinned out and to get in bed after 4 hours of dragging and getting up at 3:15 A.M. The sceond picture is particularly poor quality, but I took it to show the massive body size of this guy. If you're out of shape and want a workout drag a dead buck a mile through a swamp in the dark. I really need to start deboning these in the field and packing them out on my back!

I love hunting!

I was in Missouri for twenty years before I moved to NV and I really miss the whitetail hunting. Even thou it's highly missed I still wouldn't trade it for the big game opportunities here in NV. Congrats on the buck.

Well done. Shooting a buck like that on public land around the twin cities is quite an accomplishment.

I had three bucks running around my stand last night, and 2 of them would earn an arrow from me. Maybe tomorrow I can put a post up like this one.

Congrats Chuck. This is Tim from Hastings. Our bucks r cousins! Although I would much rather hunt private land...my public land bucks (although being few) are more highly appreciated !!!

Thanks guys! Tim, saw your text and you got an awesome buck too! It sure has been a good year! Then again every day in the woods is a good day for me!
