Took a tri[p out west last week and hunted Merrimans in Nebraska & Wyoming. Tagged two birds in the Pine Ridge forest of Nebraska. Passed on 6 Jakes in Wyoming... never did get a shot at a tom. Stayed one night in Newcastle and ate at the "Pizza Barn"... Hey, Cushman the food was GREAT :)

Then went to Hulett, Wyoming for the "Old West Invitational Turkey Shoot" and had the pleasure of meeting the Olympic Silver Medalist in trap Corey Cogdell.

A great trip.

Congrats! Those are some beautiful birds. I'm hoping to get out that way again this year! I put in for a 'lope tag, we'll see what happens.

Nice trip to some amazing country. I saw a documentary on the Hulett Turkey Shoot. The whole town/area goes all out on that event.

I must say PDRule, neither trophy picture looks like "typical" turkey terrain;). Hope you were careful with your safe zone behind your birds.

Awesome adventure and trophy! Plus meeting one of America's top shooters as well.

Congrats dog! Lots of other hunters up that way?

We never saw another hunter in the area of the Pine Ridge that we hunt. We hunt a very secluded area that is difficult to get to unless you are a very good map reader and the terrain that we hunt "does NOT look like typical turkey country", yet it holds lots of birds.

nice birds. Sounds like a great trip. Looks like you could have used a "Confidence Cow" and stalk the birds like pronghorns in the one pic! LOL. Huelett (sp?) is a great little town ( especially on Wed of Sturgis Bike week, they go all out on that too).

Good on ya Dog! I know a couple of fellas from Rapid City that were in Hulet as well. I need to make that one one of these years.

Well done! I'm thinking I'm going to have to try a 'plains' turkey hunt some spring. Looks like a good time to be had in some neat country.
