I'm thinking about a Kansas muzzleloader hunt, possibly in the west-central part of the state. I have heard the pressure is light then and hoping to find some decent bucks in bachelor groups in the big fields. Any info would be appreciated.

Muley or whitetail? I take it you already have the tag.

Best idea is to keep an eye on the Kansas FWP website and watch for the update to the fall hunting atlas that has all the WIHA properties listed. Usually shows up around August.

It will be for whitetail. No tag this year so I should draw next year. I guess KS gave me extra time for research.

You might check on the kdwp website There should be leftovers available form
Some parts of the state. Lots of walk in areas or wma's. Also if you don't
Tag out during muzzleloader season you can come back and hunt the gun season
With muzzleloader equipment

The only problem with our muzzy season is the weather. It can be really really hot then. Coming back during regular rifle with the your ML is a better time but you will be competing for hunt areas more then.

We keep holding our breath on the WIHA situation because those dollars are catching the eye of the politicians. Also CRP acres are way down and most owners also enroll their property in WIHA. I hope it keeps going.
