I’m back from my Kaibab deer hunt.
The short story is I got a decent buck. Not one of the famous kaibab monsters, but it’s the biggest deer I have ever taken, and it was a very satisfying hunt.
I hunted hard for six days, passing on dozens smaller bucks.
On Tuesday afternoon, I hiked into an area that I thought had potential. As soon as I set up the optics, I started seeing does and young bucks. Just before dusk, this buck presented a broadside shot at 400 yds, and I took him. I had to cut him up and pack him ½ mile by flashlight.
As soon as I get a chance, I’ll try to post more photos and a long version of the story.

Congrats on the buck, A-con. Looking forward to hearing the long version and seeing more pictures.

Climbing up out of some of those canyons was a mother.

Way to go A-Con. Nice to see that someone found a good buck in AZ.

Congrats on a great buck. Especially considering the full moon and hot weather.

Looking forward to the full story.

A-Con,

That is a great buck and by the looks of the terrain you certainly earned him. I am looking forward to the story as well!

As another one of "those old" guys (we gotta' stick together and show these yunguns' how it's done), congratulations. Your best deer is always reason to celebrate. I could only wish I didn't need to carry them more than 1/2 mile.
