They get the benefit though of trying to get the better capped elk zones and also controlled elk tags. As a resident we’re basically given a choice of one or the other but not both

Yeah, suppose they don’t care what the nonresidents go for but just found it odd the same thought process didn’t apply to nonresidents.

Good for you! Low draw odds this year. I’m hearing lots of grumblings about the draw. Lots of grumblings on the first come tag allocation the last few years too. Idaho should consider placing the former OTC tags into the controlled hunt draw to spread out the tag demand to a greater amount of tags, increasing draw odds.

Wish we could rewind the clock several years when I could drive to Idaho and buy a tag the night before heading into the woods. Tags never sold out and you could buy 2 tags if you were feeling lucky. I also wish the guys that used to go to Idaho could still make the trip. Now it is just the wife, dogs and myself alone in the woods. Not a bad thing, just miss having the whole gang there and the fun.

Personally, I'm fine with that. NR have to by a license to apply. If Idaho ever changes the system to refund the NR license fee when unsuccessful in the draws they should consider changing it to a similar process to the R. I don't see that happening though $$.
