I am in for round 2. It will be interesting to see how the draw odds shake out after this first year in some of the better units for elk. I suspect they are not going to be very high. My guess is 10ish percent. Anyone else want to predict the draw odds for those better units?

I wouldn’t want to wager, but I share your curiosity. It’s going to be interesting to see those draw odds reports.

I was thinking more like 5ish%. If the rumor brymoore heard is true im wagering lower than 10%

I agree, think it’ll be single digits. I also think most of the LE elk/deer tag odds will be cut in half when compared to last year. Hope I’m wrong….
I think all non-resident D, E, A and OIL tag draw odds will go down drastically. The days of NR having a solid 10% shot at a mid-range quality moose tag are officially over.

Having to front the 2K for the OIL will lighten the blow I think, Deer/Elk/Antelope will bear the brunt of it. One thing is for sure either way, the odds aren't going to get any better for anything!

I am surprised by the list of available tags for second draw. I guess someone can tell me their individual story (like ccc23454's) and it would make sense, but some of the traditional high-demand units have open tags too, and not just a couple. Seems like there should be a more general reason. Oh well, everyone gets to roll the dice again.

I am always a little surprised when I see tags that are available during the controlled hunt second draw. How can someone let such good tags slip through their fingers. This NR general draw has the same initial surprise. But When I think about it I realize that most hunters don't have a clue. The average, sight-in-your-rifle-the-day-before-opener hunter, doesn't have a clue which units are desirable or just average. They are applying based solely on convenience, location (proximity to home), and other mundane factors. Sure some knowledgeable hunters had to let tags go due to life changes or other unforeseen events, but, I think a lot of tags were left unpurchased because of apathy.
