How heavy are your day packs?

I’m currious how heavy other people carry their day pack.

I weighed my pack from last weekend and was surprised it was 25lbs. That included the sidearm and 3 liters of water. If temps drop I won’t carry as much water. I’m using a metcalf so that’s over 5lbs in pack alone. I’ve certainly carried more in the past. I’ve tried getting out of the habit of overpacking while still having items for if SHTF.

Im not sure. But you need the same amount of water if the temps drop. Youll still loose it.

I keep my pack pretty light. Just a simple backpack. Shelter, extra gloves, beanie, fire starters, tournequit and Israeli dressing, small headlamp.

I average about 25 lbs for a day pack. I don’t carry a sidearm, but rarely don’t have my spotter with me and it weighs almost 3.5 lbs. I’ve run out of water in the past and now always carry at least three liters, usually more. I’ve found there’s just no way around being kind of heavy when you’re packed to be out all day and prepared.

Depends if I am elk hunting or deer hunting though. I don't need game bags and kill kit for deer most places I go.
3 L of water, snacks, emergency kit, extra ammo. Stuff adds up quickly.

I will say, if your pack fits well, 25# feels like nothing. I carry my rifle on-pack as well.

To clarify this is early archery season. Late season is usually a bit heavier due to layers and other items.

I'm probably a little under 25, but I usually don't carry a pistol. As somebody else said one of the last things I'd want to deprive myself of is water.

I'm around 15 pounds when packing light. Closer to 20 if I'm packing heavy.

According to my calculations, I'll be carrying 37lbs total - a little less than 22 in my pack. that's everything including 2l of water, bow, bino harness, pistol, clothes. the amount of extra body weight (Fat) i'm carrying is another story.

Way too freaking heavy. I remember as a teenager buying a small, treebark camo fleece backpack for hunting, so that I didn't have to put my knife on my belt and my sandwich and boolits in my pockets. It was essentially a structureless bag with shoulder straps and a front pocket. It's amazing we survived as kids.

I also remember picking about 500 houndstongue seeds off of that "quiet!" fleece pack.......

2 night backpack, early season with everything but my bow just weighed it at 29.9.

Day hunt would be 1/3 that I’d think. I’m just using my 12x’s on the chest for this hunt. Late rifle day hunt would be somewhere in-between, more clothes and optics/tripod.

On my Nevada archery deer hunt this year, I had a tripod, 15x binos, and a 77mm spotter in my backpack. It was nice having all those optics up until it was time to actually put a stalk on a deer. It made me miss simpler times when I just used a fanny pack most days.

I had that same pack. It held my knife, a box of Remington Corelokts, maybe a grunt tube, and a snickers bar. You could track my movements from the previous year where the line of beggarticks cropped up in a meandering fashion.

Estimate 5 to 25 lbs, as how heavy depends on what I'm hunting. Lighter pack if hunting only grouse; heavier pack when hunting elk and traveling deeper.
