Well I've really been dragging my feet on this build, that, and working way too many hours to get it complete. . .but betwenen Dad and I we got it done. Its a .458 SOCOM, sorry the pics were with my phone. I'm going to try and shoot it this Saturday in between mowing and pulling cameras and putting up one more treestand. . . bow opener will be here in a week!!!

The .458 is a legal deer caliber here in Indiana, so, I'm excited to see how it performs. I'm hearing/ seeing that they are "proposing" for the 2015 seasons, that any caliber above .243 will be legal to hunt deer with here in Indiana. . .(not sure how I feel about it yet, as I know how crazy the rednecks are with slug guns now LOL).:D

Should work dandy! And yes, the commision voted to approve rifles for next year. Min .243 cali and 1.16" case length. If the folks in KY can use them without everyone getting shot, I'm sure we'll be fine here in Indiana... ;)

Hey hey hey! We Kentuckians don't shoot people unless they deserve it.

And if you hoosiers treat a rifle like a basketball then I'm confident nobody will ever get hit! :D :D :D

Great lookin gun--- I am about 2/3's of the way finished with my AR build--- Sure is fun building the gun piece by piece.

I tried to build one of those this spring but couldn't find 458 parts so I gave up...maybe I should look into building one again.

What power of scope are you using?

Not sure about 458 parts--- but have noticed a huge surge in inventory on all the 223 stuff.

Well played. We haven't had much to cheer in basketball the past couple of years, that for sure. We cope by looking at reruns of this... ;)

Mthuntr, Its just a 3x9 Burris. .( I won It at our local NRA banquet last year) It will work perfect I think. Also, I had the same issue with parts, thats part of the reason it took so long. I would look into Tromix Lead Delivery Systems. .had the barrels and uppers on sale recently. (side note: the upper will still need to be milled a couple of thousandths to allow the empty case to clear, even though it is a .458 upper). Tromix is the original manufacturer of the .458. NHY included a good wikopedia read on this. . .Good luck. Any questions, I'm here.

very well played by a85!
Nice recovery by you though 1pt!
I was going to say something along the lines of that new rifle season will probably only last 1 season. . much like a Wildcat!! LOL:D

RJ, I am hoping they go ahead with the true rifle hunting. It would sure be nice for my son and I not to have to share his 44 when we come home :) I would love to stretch out my '06 at home. My reasoning has always been that if you are going to let folks hunt yotes with anything they choose, most of them on the ground shooting a flat trajectory, why not let folks hunt deer with the same firearms when they are shooting largely from stands at angles that are much less likely to allow that round to travel long distances.

SFC, I agree with this 100%....never understood the argument really. . .anything goes with coyotes on open range and most times frozen ground. . .I'm betting it will pass.
